I wanted to make this post because I recently opened a support ticket regarding a gender change for one of my Anniversary realm characters, and after speaking with two separate Game Masters, both were actually extremely understanding and sympathetic about the situation. One of them even escalated it internally for me.

Unfortunately, the final answer I received was that the functionality itself simply does not currently exist within Classic Anniversary tools, meaning even GMs cannot manually perform the change.

So this post is not aimed at support staff at all. They genuinely tried to help.

I understand some people may roll their eyes at this topic immediately because anything involving gender identity in 2026 turns into an argument online, but Iā€™m honestly not trying to push politics or views onto anybody else here. I just want the ability to make my own character reflect how Iā€™m comfortable presenting in-game.

This affects absolutely nobody elseā€™s gameplay, economy, progression, raids, PvP balance, or immersion. It would simply be an optional character customization feature for players who want it, exactly like Retail WoW already supports.

For me personally, this has become a genuine enjoyment issue with one of my main characters. The character represents a huge amount of time investment, progression, guild history, reputational history, and attachment to the game. At this point I honestly struggle to enjoy logging into the character because the presentation no longer feels right to me.

I know some people will say ā€œjust reroll,ā€ but on Anniversary realms that can mean throwing away months of progress, gear, reputational history, mounts, professions, achievements, guild relationships, and time investment over something that would realistically be a very small optional feature.

I completely understand the philosophy of preserving the original Classic experience, but Anniversary realms already include multiple modern conveniences and changes compared to original 2007 WoW. An optional gender change service really feels like something that could exist without negatively impacting anyone else.

I would happily even pay for the service. Iā€™m not asking for anything free or special. Iā€™m simply asking Blizzard to consider adding this functionality to Classic Anniversary realms for players who need it.

You can change your gender anytime you want. What you cannot change however is your body type.

Absolutely not! This is not acceptable. Now you want to change your gender. What next? Change your hair color? Change your body type? No changes, please!
