Thanks! Glad you like it. Perhaps you should go kill Opulence and get one for yourself too!

But i like my current crown though ; ;

Crowns are okay, I guess.

They are fabulous. So is that robe. It’s good that you went with the purple and eyeballs.

Underrated post, this had me giggling

Eye see what you did there. Forgive me, i’ve been a tad phunny lately.
You lot excited for Shadowlands or?

A whole expansion contained to its own dimension leaving roleplayers to roam Azeroth with minimal impact and maximum freedom along with a full shipment of new shinies and trinkets to make our characters look special? Sign me up.

I’m ironically excited for literally all of it except for the lore, which looks to somehow manage to be even worse than BfA. But between Torghast, the new customization and (FINALLY) the removal of war-/titanforging, to name just a few highlights? Yeah, sign me up as well.

This.
Just
Yeah.
This. :point_up_2:

Reading shadowlands lore in my weariness, I accidentally interpreted the Arbiter as “arbeiter” and now I desperately need to see Soviet/DDR Arbiter propaganda poster fanart in the style of glorious socialist Heroic Realism.

My sense of humor is broken.

Close enough!

Is Shadowlands really just a contained dimension tho?

I seem to recall something about it being the literal afterlife where we’ll eventually spend 99% of our existence, and knowledge about it can and will radically change azerothian societies on a foundational level.

Alternate Draenor, sure we could forget that happened. But the afterlife?

Serrathil vanishes in a poof

Basically, yes
If you are not from an immortal race, your society only logical to transform to a relegion where the whole life is just a preparation to a looong looong afterlife
No point to wage wars for fleeting treasures or power
Peasant or King? Rich or poor? Influental or nobody?
These earthly, material things stop matter anymore when there is a 100% certanity, there is the Arbiter on the other side who will judge you and send you to a very nasty afterlife if you are not worthy for a good one…
Just immagine Indiana Jhones decided, okay, lets NOT stash away the Arc of Covenant, - after all, he knew okay, there is a God, and angry one, here a jar of Nac… german bad guys face for proof, have a nice day. Send the whole enchilada to Berlin and watch from a safe distance H. opens it and lets see what will hapen after what he done with the Chosen People…shall we?
Pretty much the same situation… knowledge changes everything if used properly…

Blizzard isn’t handling the implication of all our churches, cults, sisterhood and whatever else being proven wrong, provoking mass hysteria, fanaticism and frantic reformation worldwide. Just like how they refused to handle a whole alternate universe with alternate copies of everything imaginable and just sealed that can of worms up nice and tight in BfA.

The Shadowlands may well be a halfway point on the way to the afterlife you were promised but knowing that it exists must necessarily do something to traditional doctrine.

They’re sort of facing the problem of Kelemvor ascending to be god of the dead in the Forgotten Realms. Human at heart, he set about rewarding people for their sacrifice and service to Good and people immediately started cults of heroically sacrificing themselves for a gold star. This of course didn’t work out well, so he had to mold himself more to his role as divine arbiter and shed his human touch along with some unpleasant countermeasure to the faithless who thought that this was all nonsense.

Expect paladins fighting with double the zeal to enter not-heaven for their service to others and selfish, prideful souls pretending to reform so that they won’t be tormented slaves in death. Et cetera.

Cultism would actually make for interesting roleplaying but first of all, we must all be terrified of dying to any old infected hangnail so that we don’t get drawn into the Maw. Grandpa’s gone? Cry extra hard because he’s now in an objectively worse place. Maybe I’m overthinking this?

Today, I had a dream where a very pointy metal toy somehow got stuck in a tooth and had to be wiggled loose very carefully so as not to tear open a catastrophic cavity. Tooth dreams are not fun.

I suspect that in 3 posts alone we have thought more about the logical implications of Shadowlands than the entirety of Blizzard’s lore team during the planning of the expansion.

I can just hear Sargeras crying out in the distance “This was why I was right all along!”
