The only good reason to have this kind of system is the ability to analyze a fight and figure out how you as a player can perform better and thus increase your parse.
Then why is it possible to look up other people?
This dynamic that 90% of the time creates a negative loop where the “bad” players aren’t getting looked at that either due to a gear issue or a skill issue.
Whilst the rest 10% is actually used for looking up the top players and seeing how they most likely abused this system and got a whole raid tunnel visioning one dudes parse.
But in all seriousness why aren’t parses private by default? If the point is SELF improvement why is it possible to look up people and have a twisted pov on them as players?
This is especially relevant with the latest paid parsing addon that’s been catching some heat lately.
The nature of parse and how it works is that it’s no 90/10 split as you’ve described it, but that it’s a spread. So if you’re 51% parse you’re in the top half.
I’ve been doing some pugs on alts and can tell you, with purple and 99 parse you can clear ST in 50 min or so. I do this with my guild.
With blue parse raid, you can do it in 90 min. And if you’re under 50%, then improve yourself. Easy.
Otherwise, make a raid/pug yourself or join a guild.
The 90/10 spread is the way people use parsing as a tool.
90% of people use it is for filtering lowbies and 10% is for actual analysis of top end players.
R u suggesting that its wrong for 90+ parsers to not want gray/green parsers to slow/ruin their raids and instead they should carry them? But why?.. the high parsers r there coz they r putting some effort, if the gray/green would do the same they wouldnt be where they are. Ive been rejected many times on my alts, and i didnt come to complain on forums about it, make ur own raid, put some effort, buy consumables, get wbs and start being useful
menchildren like to measure their epens against other menchildren
Its an ape thing
Be the change you want to see.
Start doing pugs and don’t check parses, I’ll gladly come to afk and greyparse and get loot
WoW in all it’s forms is no longer friendly to solo or small groups of players and hasn’t been for a long time. Whether it be WoWLogs or Raider.io in combination with much larger servers so everyone is just another randomer the only real way to play is to get into a guild or fully commit to taking part is the min-maxing culture.
Luckily I play in a guild that does not care about parses, we sometimes still take logs for friendly competition among some DPS but that’s as far as it goes.
My advice is to find a guild and stick with playing in that smaller community.
WoWLogs are a thing only for pug environment because actually very few guilds care about logs and just play together in relaxed way.
The caveat for Logs is that you can opt in at Blizzard battle.net account settings to be invisible for any third party site and your gameplay data will never be shared there. If someone doesn’t like logging, they can remove themselves.
However, in my experience with players it only caused friction because such players become practically invisible to others and these people doesn’t seem to like it.
yeah well, that might as well not exist in a world where getting an invite relies on the raid leader to be able to see your logs /shrug.
Also, it’s very probable that it doesn’t exist any technical solution to address this without breaking a lot of the addon ecosystem.
and this is the reason you made that topic with your alt, instead of main?
I sense grey parser tears.
The only option is to find raid without these requirements then.
I tend to use logs and parses to improve my own performance. If I make a pug I generally never ask for logs, I just find them handy to help myself and learn from other and better players.
That being said, I never strive for any 99 logs, orange parses are my goal
Thank god i dont do pve content , Sounds stressful with so many sweatlords
Thank you for demonstrating that you’re exactly the problem this community is facing.
People faithfully ignore serious issues and just yap about “parse bad, opinion disregarded”.
The point of logs is self improvement and elitist losers use it to filter and alienate new/bad players when the content is piss easy.
But please keep mopping the floor with your egotistical world views, I’m sure your 79 parse or whatever you got in ST means a lot to you.
This whole culture is a plague and vultures like you feast on the dying corpse of a casual game.
If you’re bellow 50% parse, at least acknowledge you’re part of the issue.
I’ll explain the logic.
Let’s say average player can clear ST and let’s say perfect average is 50%
So, let’s say 20 players with 50% parse can clear ST (while respecting mechanics and having a good comp. This means killing elelementals and two phasing 7th boss, this means having two tanks for Eranikus cause you can’t push phases to drop the debuff etc…)
Now, let’s say some players are under 50%, but some are above. But overall, the raid is at 50% parse or above (disregarding the difference in raw dps between specs because we said it’s a balanced raid comp).
This is fine and raid is cleared.
But what happens when you get too many grey parsers? You fail. What to do then?!
Showing you have the epic ring doesn’t mean sh!t since you could have been carried and won it from Avatar of Hakkar.
There are two options. Either be in a guild, where you’d still have to improve or do pugs.
Now, pugs… How do you know how someone plays, how good they are. How do you secure that you’ll be able to clear full ST by not having too many slackers that need to be carried. There are two ways.
You bring on people to carry you, but with the removal of incentives for them to do so over GoldP, what’s left. Only thing that’s left is to find a way to verify how good or bad a player is.
Now, again, if you’d see someone saying LFM ST, aiming at 4/8 and another run saying LFM ST 8/8, which one you’d join. One within your capabilities or one within your wishes for loot and content.
So, if you’re under 50%, you’re the reason pugs can fail and you’re the reason why people protect against this eventuality by checking your performance.
Alternative, join a guild or make one.
good luck with that my guy
grey parses equals barely even touching your keyboard (or dying) though, so this will be directly reflected by the damage meter which every self respecting player uses and can be called out on the spot. no need logs to confirm that.
usually blue parses and above is the accepted standard in my experience, and that basically means “be average or better” which is an easy qualifier for most.
that being said, some people treat orange and pink parses as the “average” which is getting it twisted to put it mildly, because that’s top performers, and top performers are called “top” for a reason… and its because that is above average, so it makes absolutely no logical sense, but good luck convincing a parsemonkey that this is the case.
most of them are blinded by what they personally deem average, and “average” in their book is slightly below 100 (yellow) parses which is basically perfect, top tier, 1%, world’s best-kind of stuff.
the toxicity is grounded in the fact that orange parses is considered by some to be “slightly above average” which is what the high blue/purple parses represent.
grey = actual garbage, barely touching keyboard, dying all the time.
green = noob player, messing up rotation, easily distracted by football game on tv.
blue = average player, not great and not bad
purple = above average, decently skilled player pulling off his rotation correctly most of the time, minor mistakes.
orange = good player, rarely makes mistakes, pumps big dee pee ess with a casual go-to attitude, usually the type of player who played the game many years.
pink = top tier, fully dedicated to getting the pinks and thus performing flawlessly, always show up with full consumes and all world buffs, full enchants etc.
yellow = world best tier, few can compete in this league, some cheese their way here by having their entire raid tunnel their parse a la streamer privilege (everyone has to work around increasing my parses even at the cost of their own) - this usually involves irregular cheese like i.e having 2 enhancement shamans with improved totems in the same group to provide both WF and Agi totem whereas most other groups only get WF… the agi totem is 5% crit and it stacks with feral’s pack aura so its nothing to scoff at, or having a bunch of disc priests all use their power infusion on the same player, in organized fashion (you know the drill).
that last part is very important. there’s a lot of subpar players out there who cheese their parses by doing things like that. some even bribe their way to obtain this… that priest selling his power infusion to the highest bidder is not a meme, in case you thought so… that is a real thing.
for example, i heard that the socalled “world best” priest got his parses by literally being put in a group full of warlocks and had them constantly lifetap so he could pump heals (non-overheals) into them throughout the fight, while getting innervates so he could keep spamming heals without going oom.
ez parse cheese, and this is why the system is a joke…
i bet you dont even do anything in life no wonder nobody wants to play with you
Did i hurt your feelings . Someone is mad that i dont care about pve
. Come post with your main and show your insane parses gigachad
