Get an Early Look at Eight New Hero Talent Trees

All I keep thinking when you update us on this “feature” is… who asked for this

Damn I guess I’m not moving from demo anytime soon, both soul harvester and diabolist, splendid

The path they are taking with this seems indeed inspired by mobile games. Every expansion, they can change it fully to give a new flavor without having to rework the main trees or just making them too heavy (like in the past Lk/Cata). I would guess in the second expansion we could see the 3 options removed & updated with new names & abilities.

It’s not a bad idea but it needs to be implemented correctly and with coherence which seems to be lacking for now.

Some options feels well thought, some feels like a lack of inspiration. And until all classes are reworked like Paladin/Rogue/DH it will be a nightmare to please people.

correction: “it feels awful to use for me…”

There are people who 100% will quit the game if they don’t add a new gameplay addition every expansion.

Here’s my two cents you Devs probably won’t hear anyways:
Please stop with the concept naming and leave these as just Hero Talents or something.

If you’re not giving any related customizations with these, move back with the naming and concepts.

These mid-spec names look like you are mocking the expectations of players, so please, just move away from it and leave these as just “Next Tier of Talents” and just as a mechanic addition to the game.

What do I mean?

Naming a Warrior spec “Slayer” totally contradicts with your previous Order Hall Leader naming of a Demon Hunter.
Naming a Hunter “Dark Ranger” totally contradicts with the Dark Rangers that we already know from the game, which are already given as a customization reward (and no “Dark Ranger” title, I don’t know for what reason still?!)

This can be applied to the MOST of the “Hero Spec” names. So, please stop while you’re at the development stage, move away from this naming and enforced concepts.

Because you are NOT giving us those concepts that we were already asking for YEARS. You are just mocking them like this and that will create a false expectation and obvious backlash.

You can easily prevent that by just naming (for example) “Slayer Warrior” to “Arms Fury Warrior” and “Mountain Thane Warrior” to “Protection Fury Warrior” and “Colossus Warrior” to “Protection Arms Warrior” vice versa with all those things.

It’s this easy to prevent another Covenants disaster.

Just. Please. LISTEN.

I beg to all who are responsible.

Overdramatic?
No, you will see what overdramatic really is if you go live with these.

So… Seriously. PLEASE.

Sunspots made me giggle. I realise we are light wielding but spots sounds a bit daft. :dracthyr_hehe_animated:

I will wait to see them in action in testing.

Yeah it absolutely is a me problem, nevertheless I would love there to be a choice node that would turn deep breath into a sindragosa’s fury type of attack if picked. Would make playing evoker much easier imho.

And while I get that desire from your side, you have to understand that Evoker was advertised right from the start as a more Action-Caster oriented class.

Sorry to break it to you, but in that case your expectation are very likely misplaced.

Wildstalker, Feral & Resto
Wildstalker hero talents are boring , and it doesn’t really contribute to the design philosophy to explore class fantasy.
Healing buffs are a step in the right direction in terms of feral survivability, however it’s still not enough to make feral viable in pvp again, especially when you offset it to all other specs hero talents increases in player power.
A 3% buff to rejuvenation? This might be okay for Restoration druids, but for ferals rejuvenation already healed for nothing. Rejuvenation, switmend and regrowth really need more feral specific tuning.

There are also people who will quit if Blizz repeats making huge game design mistakes (e.g. Covenants and then Hero Talents).

And WoW will not attract new players if it gets more and more convoluted. I don’t even bother suggesting my RL buddies to try WoW, because they will surely dislike it.

The Rouge trickster tree is madness, feint as a dmg ability with yet another ~5 sec dmg window and trying to force killing spree as a talent seems super strange since no one is going killing spree

Trickster seems like it will be unbearable to face against in PvP

Very unfortunate to not see a single shaman tree.
We still have 0 idea who is getting what tree. And every single spec hopes its not them who gets Totemic

Usually Paladin is last in these things, I feel your pain. Everyone is curious to see what is coming and the longer you get access the more feedback can be given ofc.

I just hope that for Evokers Mass Eruptions / Mass Disintegrate is changed to stack based. Dont feel like wasting CDR (at least for devastation) cuase we will be forced to use empowred spell → disintegrate → empowered spell → disintegrate and not 2x empowered into 2x disintegrate for best CDR effect.

Yeah exactly.

It seems like its only a very very small amount of players in each dps section of shaman that could even fathom playing totemic.

It feels especiaally scary to think about Totemic when all totems you have are very bad, and blizzard havent done anything to combat it in dragonflight.

Hopefully they release shaman stuff soon so we can have a voice that blizzard wants to listen to.

Well I mean, its not just an aug spec but it does have a mechanic that the allies can partake in, so I would say it does effect the teamplay via the aoe volcanic explosions, just the damage though, so I guess if you were hoping for an aura type buff then yes not exactly what one might expect. I think thats neat though.

If melt armor would provide an actual damage buff for everyone, it would be already infinitely better, because I doubt people will stack Evokers in the next expansion. The bottom 3 nodes are also total garbage, but to be honest most specs revealed feel rushed.

I think rushed for alpha is fine, as long as they can still work on them and tune them, the important thing in my eyes is that the idea is solid, their intent behind what they want something to feel like, and tbh the only time these Hero-Talents feel soulless has been the druid ones, specifically “Wildstalker”, nothing there other then another bleed, maybe it was resto focused but nothing new feels bad ngl. But for all the other I see the vision they have behind the tree.
