You are not wrong here and I’m with you on this. Personally I was hoping to see a Necromancer-styled hero class, but that didn’t happen. Now I’m hoping for an Unholy rework to have half the tree to focus on minions, and the current iteration of Rider would add to that - having an army of minions with elite Horsemen would make the DK the real undead general on the battlefield.
It’s really very personal opinion that Rider of the Apocalypse would indicate you’re like one of the Horsemen, not summoning them.
Also, like with DHs, who seem to have one hero class focusing on Warglaives and other on Fel powers, I was hoping to see one for DK focusing on Runeblade.
if you go to DK forum you can see a post i made about what i want to see reworked for unholy for War Whitin if you see any thing you agree whit or want to suggest improved from what i posted feel free to drop by there.
Found your post, looks interesting but it has a LOT of changes, probably too many to hope Blizz would implement… I will give it a deeper look soon.
Back to feedback on few other classes I also play and their presented hero specs:
Shaman - Farseer (Rating: 4.5/5)
Unlike my opinion on DK’s Rider of the Apocalypse, Farseer summoning ancestor spirits to help is actually decent. WoW’s lore of Shaman’s connection to ancients was long lost, and its nice they are bringing it back via hero class.
Majority of nodes are passives that work well with established abilities and rotations, however some of them are quite uneven in power between Elemental and Restoration:
– Offering From Beyond reduces a major cooldown for Elemental, but for Restoration it affects Riptide that doesn’t have a long CD by itself.
– Primordial Capacity gives Restoration 5% more mana, one that will be lost after one spell cast. How about 5% mana regeneration instead? Bigger pool just means it takes longer to fill, especially that mana regen isn’t percentage based most of the time.
– Earthen Communion healing bonus reads that it only works when used on self, but as Restoration we keep it on other targets (unless talented into Elemental Orbit) - is this intentional?
Interesting interaction between Nature’s Swiftness and capstone offering player agency in summoning an ancestor via optional talent.
I like that Restoration relies on Unleash Life - Elemental’s version should probably also work off of something higher in the talent tree instead of a nigh-capstone talent that is Primordial Wave.
. Warlock - Hellcaller (Rating: 4.5/5)
Firstly, huge props for the W3 reference and remembering that Satyrs exist.
The hero ability, Wither, is positively an ability that replaces existing one by upgrading it (in case of Destro even more so by making it instant cast), keeping the existing rotations intact.
Capstone adds 1 min CD micro-bloodlust while boosting the hero ability - simple and useful, helps with burning priority targets (or “burst” AoE if multiple Withers are present)
I understand there needs to be a simple tuning knob, but Xalan’s Ferocity and Xalan’s Cruelty could be a single talent.
The “acute” part is a bit unclear, since we don’t know what is the original tick timer on Wither, but I reckon it’s less than every second, so it looks like there’s an interaction that using abilities = increases tick time - player agency, always welcome.
Mark of Xavius - I hope it works that you can spam the ability on one target to apply the debuff on nearby enemies, removing the need to tab targets - something I’d really like as Destruction!
. Warrior - Slayer (Rating: 5/5)
Fury Bladestorm!
Hero ability is passive stacking buff that is consumed by execute - not having new ability is good, while having the player be able to choose when to consume it is even better.
Additional self-healing via Death Drive is welcome, thought it would be better if it caused like 10% heal from all Executes, buffed to 50% if it’s Sudden Death Execute. It would be especially useful in hectic boss execution phases, such as like Fyrakk where people die like flies and you need to push through the constant damage to get that kill.
Slayer’s Focus seems to buff abilities not related to the focus of this hero class (Execute/Bladestorm) - obvious turning knob, but on the wrong abilities? Also, it can be combined into one talent with Constant Pressure.
Imminent Demise has needlessly complicated tooltip, hopefully it will be changed later (something simple like “The chance for Sudden Death to occur is increased [by x%].”)
Slayer compared to Colossus it’s hard for me not to give this one 5/5, as the latter is needlessly complex through adding a new ability with unintuitive usage.
As a Feral player I have to somewhat disagree, I think the current mix between DoT importance and Bite usage is some of the best mix of burst to sustain dmg I’ve experienced in a very long time.
I think this will be a interesting idea withh how and when to use massive bite I think it’s called, due to the snapshot mechanic
I’m really excited about that, I really hope we get a incentive to swap outside of just defensive, but even if not it’ll definetely feel smoother from the boffs you recieve when swapping in and out of it, even if just for defensives.
Quite the opposite, there are hints in various Hero Spec trees mentioning class/spec talents will change - Warrior Shockwave’s position, Bladestorm added to Fury, DK Cleaving Strikes (likely) unlinked from Death and Decay, even a Blue post mentioning Monk’s Essence Font ability will be removed.
So yeah, reworks are still planned - I would assume for those classes/specs that haven’t received any major one yet, maybe the ones that had small rework but with insufficient result.
It is pretty obvious that the power Level and Playgame Aspect are totally differnt is so many Trees, and I also would have liked to see the basic Talent Tree first.
So,
I think DK all trees look fine - decent power and fun gameplay
Pala - Lightsmith is awfull, Herald and Templar are very nice
Farseer for Shaman - this looks efficent numberwise - except the defensive talent with is awfull, and gameplay is like … super awfull mega boring - this needs decent rework Blizz,
For Monks - i think Shado Pan seems legit and fun, except its gonna be a pain to keep track of all the different procs - but managable. Conduit of Celestials is pretty s*** - and pls remove the procs from Rushing Jade Wind - best remove this ability complety
Am i missing something? Destros now have a Hero Talent Tree with Demo, which is more Demo than Destro, and one with Affli, which is more Affli than Destro. Affli and Demo will also have one (soul harvester) so what’s the point of this? Where is Destro’s class fantasy in either one of these Hero-Trees?
I sincerely hope that Blizzard made a mistake here and posted the Soul Harvester Tree and that Hellcaller is more Destro than Affli. Otherwise it’s more than just taking the piss for Destro players.
