Actually they are precise in this case. Because subscription only means you pay via an automatic renewal payment method. The other thing is Gametime buying.
There should actually be no difference in subscribing for 6 months or buying 6 months of gametime but they speculate that with the renewal you forget about canceling the subscription and as it can happen, that there is another bonus thingy that will come while you are still within the 6 months than you will not get it if you already canceled the automatic resubscription so you keep subscribed and so maybe forget.
The point is, these things would get a better reaction if they were a reward for having been paying for the game for the last 6 months, rather than a bribe to pay now for the next 6 months.
No pre-announcements, no “we’ll give you this in 3 months”, just now and then (not necessarily twice per year) say “ok, everyone who’s been paid up for 6 months, you’ve got this in the mail”.
Blizz need to stop begging players for money while paying out absurd sums to objectionable people.
