is this happening to anyone else?
I was running around yesterday questing. I didn’t complete any quest or anything, but all of a sudden [5 daily quests competed] just popped up. I found that really weird… but I just forgot about it.
Then just now, I was killing some trolls and all of a sudden [a simple re-quest] popped up!!
I’m not even doing any dailies at all, or world quests or anything!!
Has this happened to anyone else?
Any idea what is going on?
Had similar things happen to me & friends a few times. One of them got a BG achievement in the middle of Boralus while being AFK.
I think a lot of things (especially daily things) are internally tracked with quest flags.
The newer expansions rare mobs for example can be killed once a day for their loot (They can be killed multiple times, but won’t award loot after the first time). I believe these daily kills are tracked by using the flag system for daily quests.
It’s basically just reusing the already implemented quest / daily system for other things.
the only thing i killed was blood trolls 
I don’t know what exactly happened in your case, but I often get those achievements when killing rares or when picking up things like treasure. Maybe you completed a WQ and this was counted as daily? It’s hard to tell.
But as Tinkspring pointed out, sometimes the timing just seems off.
I personally see this most with quest related achievements, those are basically completly inaccurate at this point. But there’s some other weird ones aswell.

this extra weird then because from what i recall yesterday, i logged in and was already mid quest. i ran towards my destination and did literally nothing. i may have killed a normal mob or two… but i seriously didn’t do anything that might trigger this.
unless…
i do recall yesterday, i might have wandered into an area with a bonus objective but i didnt complete it and i wandered right out of it again. this has happened in the same area too. im killing blood trolls around torgas remains on my horde toon.
Yeah ,happens every now and then on alts.
I’ve had this happen.
Did you kill some rares or open a chest because some of them count as daily quests and contribute to the count.
There also seems to be a delay on some achievements, I’ve occasionally not received the credit for getting one until I’ve logged in again.

This happened to me twice in Legion. One achievement for fishing up a rare fish in the broken isles, and another for capturing 5 flags I think in Eye of the Storm. Hasn’t happened again after that, though.
When it happened to me I was afking in Dalaran and just got the achievements out of nowhere.
Have it too sometimes, like f.e. last time, i had made a lv 20 iron dwarf and when i finished one quest i had the achiev for completing 1000 
Which i had already completed long ago so what triggers it exactly is a mystery.
Some rares and chests are counted as daily quests…
Don’t complain! An achievement is an achievement!
I’ve had it a couple of times before. The weirdest was getting a Battleground achievement (Wrecking Ball) during a dungeon.
Elites don’t seem to be tracked for the daily quest but purple chests around the world definitely are. That’s how I got most of my daily quest achievements xD
