Getting back to wow is overwhelming

So i logged in and figured i would play my hunter, found it at level 67 so i got it to 70 and now i am just overwhelmed by the sheer amount of quests i have in the main city. There is like… 30-40 quests there and my quest book is already full.

Where should i start? What is most important to get going at 70. My first thought was to just ditch the hunter and continue on my other character that at least progressed the campaign somewhat to have fewer quest icons but i don’t really feel like playing druid at the moment.

So what would be the first thing to do once you hit 70 now?

Yep coming back mid expeansion sucks. You just get bombarded with quests of wich you wont know the right order of to do the story in order.

You got the base expansion outside.
first patch are the cavern zones
and the second patch is the emerald dream related stuff.

Thats pretty much advice i can give. just look for quests themed around that in order i guess

It’s always hard coming back to an expansion that has already been out a long time.

I would recommend doing the campaign all the way through on at least one character. I only ever do it on my main and my alts can still access everything.

Once you are up to date you’ll have access to the Emerald Dream

Tomorrow is reset so you probably won’t get the chance to do the weekly quest, it’s doing 4xM0/M+ and will grant you a heroic gear item. So don’t worry if you don’t get time to do it today.

ED will grant you better gear but you could also hit up the previous once week quests for the Dreamsurge and Time Rift. There are cheap items you can buy off the AH when you ding, if you want to go that route.

unlocking the 10.2 campaign should be your priority to have access to new zone , it starts with shaendris (or whatever her name was) in valdrakken, right down the stairs from tower. you can also do the dreamsurge, timerift events to get some starting gear other than that if you dont care about the story 10.2 campaign should be your way to go , if you want to play the whole story then it’s better to abandon any quets and start over from the intro quests

ps. if you can’t unlock 10.2 campaign right away you may need to do 10.1 but i dont think that’s the case now.

look at the top at main quests. they’re the important ones

true, but if you come to an expansion midway you generally get multiple main story quests instantly. Making it confusing for someone to do the story in order without needing a guide on it

Just tried it out, since despite having bought gametime more than a month ago i havent been really able to play. And yep the moment you go into valdrakken you just get bombarded by quests and the story quests instantly given to you telepathicly. and thats with me having played plenty before the first patch. I’d probably have even more confusing quests instantly dumped on me if i had not played this expansion before.

I do read the forums and watch/read news on the game. But for players who dont wouldnt have a clue wich quest line should be done in what order for the story

I’ve recently had two friends start DF, first thing I told them is to ignore everything. It’s not worth it. Especially in Valdrakken.

There are too many exclamation marks there. Just ignore them. Pick up the weekly quest and that’s it.

Best thing to do to start would be to read a guide or watch a video on the latest patch, and focus on that content. It’s best to see wow as a seasonal game where the most content that matters in the one released in the current season/patch.

I guess reading guides is the best solution. I think it wouldn’t be to unreasonable to have old patches quest in a different colour and the ability to hide em if you wish (and if it doesn’t hide it means it is required to progress the current patch).

I will focus on the campaign for now the few times i can play, it should keep me occupied for a while at least!

Thanks everyone!

Definitely watch some youtube guides

The questing is a complete mess in this expansion.
I’m am truly glad that my guild helped me out with pointers on what to focus, what to skip or things that are a complete waste of time or gold.

Even the standard UI doesn’t show all quests for example. Often I fly over places and discover a quest on the minimap, but nothing shows up on the main map, only stuff you’ve got tracked or it’s a main quest.

Then there’s the mess where the main story line send you places, but POST-STORY content is also available there already. Like, Blizzard, why are you giving me the quest about how the enemy is progressing on destroying that island over there, when I’m still on my main quest and don’t even know who my main enemy is supposed to be?

Like this makes absolutely no sense…

Get to Emerald Dream zone.
Do the Intro quests and Campaign there.

Then you’ll have 4 sources of Loot.
The Worthy Ally (earn 1500 rep with Dream Wardens) gives a piece of Veteran gear.
The Superbloom event (hourly group event where you follow a tree and kills stuff) also gives a Veteran piece.
The Plant 5 seeds quest also gives a Veteran piece.
World Boss has a chance a a Champion piece.

Hopefully we’ll get a Vendor soon as the last 4 weeks doing this I’ve only received a Neck piece despite needing a bunch of slots.

It sure is, overwhelming.

Out of all my characters I’m only using 4 now and 3 of those are new.

Male and female Vulpera and male and female Mechognomes. Two 70’s and the other two playing through all the quests. So you get to do all horde and alliance quests for the last time, as I doubt I’ll do them again. Level the questers to 30 and freeze the xp, do all the quests in the max. level 30 regions then unfreeze to level 35 and freeze again and just continue like that.

Seems to be working for me.

Trying to start where I left off, was just too much of a headache trying to work out where to start from and with what characters.

Wish they’d expand the quest log to 50 at least, got a fair few past expansion raid quests I’m still on progress of doing
