Serious question: But how stupid can you design a game in which the community sometimes abuses mechanics like “vote-kick” and then the KICKED OUT PLAYER gets 30 minutes of desertion?
The reason it’s there is to guard against a different, even worse abuse of the system.
Back when RDF was first introduced, tanks would stay afk and demand to be kicked anytime they got a dungeon they didn’t enjoy running or players they felt were too badly geared. The reason they did this is because they could then instantly requeue.
To prevent this behavior the debuff was added. It has this effect, but the other scenario is worse.
Blizzard doesn’t police use of the LFD kick, and there is no section in the TOS covering it. Any reason 3 other people agree on, including “this player’s gear is too low”, “this player needs the same loot as my friend” or even “this player’s choice of tabard or haircut is aesthethically unpleasing to me” is a valid reason to kick anyone from RDF.
If you were kicked out of the dungeon for no valid reason. I joined, wrote hello and did damage. After 3 mob groups I was kicked. Since I joined in the middle of the dungeon, a DD was probably already kicked.
A 210 GS is not a valid reason. Blizzard claims that you can join with it, so there can be no reason to kick someone because YOU feel it’s not enough.
Yes, I read that on Reddit too. So it would be too complicated for Blizzard to introduce an MMR for the RDF? Allegedly.
But okay, if that’s not covered by the TOS and doesn’t conflict with common decency, then yes, then I’ll probably do that in the future.
I said nothing about common decency, I think personally that kicking people who are clearly trying to gear up in gammas is stupid as hell. That’s what they’re for. But people will do what they do, and blizzard has washed their hands of policing it.
well maybe dont que for gamma untill you do some inital decent gearing ?
i got kicked from alpha once - and tbh they were right - it took me couple of dungeons to sort out how to play a hunter in wolk and get some gear that is not complete garbage because thats what blizz gives to boosted chars there were so many things i forgot
if people come unprepared , they can blame only themselves for it
Because creating your own groups is no longer optimal you will need to suffer by joining random groups and getting kicked if you don’t match what the others need.
On the other hand, if you are going for something relatively rare that people don’t want to do, then as long as you bring at least 2 friends you will be able to strongarm almost anyone into doing the thing you want (achievs, skippable bosses, trash clears, whatever) by threatening them with votekicks. That’s just how RDF works, even if you remove votekicks it will only get worse.
It honestly wouldn’t make any sense if the kicking players got the debuff.
well how about my experience, i was doing pit of saron, you know you cant do Halls of reflection without it, so the group does a speedskip as soon as their screen loads leaving me behind and mind you i need the quest, which they didnt give two shets about, so they skipped first boss which is a requirement and when i died they kicked me out of group, so im standing with 30 mins dungeon lockout, is this not abuse?
No, because the group of 4 players is doing a speedkip and voted in majority favour to remove you. If they abused you otherwise like chat harassment you can report them for that.
This group isn’t made to do your specific quest, which you can also make a premade group to do it for with lets say, friends or guildies or other like minded players that need this quest.
It is unfortunate they didn’t want to help you, but they’re not required to do so.
A group of 4 decide to kick someone fox X reason, it’s legitimate. Although it sucks if you waited a long time in the queue only to be kicked.
But the point is, the player kicked can no longer queue for dungeon, through no fault of his own. It’s a double punishment.
I am frankly surprised it’s working this way. I understand a deserter debuff for someone voluntary quitting the group, i understand a lot less a deserter debuff for being remove from a group by others.
what we have atm is not exact copy of wrath though .
in this version many geared people just want to farm their gammas as fast as possible.
if he qued for hc pit which is included into pool of gammas - well thats unlucky for him .
you can do those quests on normal - thats how i did them 2 days ago.
and ye - i got kicked too multiple times by groups consisting of 6k score people for low dps. cant blame them - it was indeed low compared to their - whether i agree with it or not is irrelevant because i understand their point of view about efficiency
I don’t think the occasional tank getting put on everyones ignore list is worse than what’s currently happening during the gearing process, but you go on.
ESPECIALLY in classic where you don’t even need to random for your daily.
true - but i see a lot of +/- 3 people guild groups in gamma dungeons. and they have right to decide whether they want to continiue with someone performing much below them or not.
in cata it will be much more visible bdw because dungeons unless nerfed will be much harder then wolk ones.
They queued up for a random person and got a random person.
I will absolutely never sympathize with their elitism, nor will I advocate for punishing the person who got the unlucky draw of queueing into these cretins.
