Getting kicked out of party for being new player

he’s doing something no new player would ever do.
the issue is really simple. currently 99% of the timewalking audience is in it for the weekly loot cache and care about completing the dungeon asap. nothing else

exploring the game is what new players normally do.

except when you’re making 4 other people wait for you. not saying I would’ve kicked him for that, but it was justified

He is doing exactly what a new player would do. I got kicked out of my first dungeon by saying “hello!” and then seeing quest markers on guys and i started reading them. Not realizing the other people maybe had done that 10 years before me and are there for the zillionth time. A new player explores and get surprised.

Not when you can do the dungeon without kicking and you can also look on the map and see where that person may be at and use your mind to think about what that person may be doing.

I’m sorry this happens to you. We’ve all been there. They have already advised you not to do them alone but with your guild. But an entire guild can’t always keep up with new players. It’s the stark truth! In fact, if you try to ask, no one answers you or at least they tell you to use the group search. In a nutshell, either you say you are a new player to every group you find (even if many don’t care, they go straight and goodbye) or you follow the group without saying anything. We’ve all been there and we’ve all been thrown out by stupid people …

What happened to you in the NPC dungeon is embarrassing because they made fun of you. That NPC only activates in heroic mode and you were in normal. They only told you to play with you and in fact you took the bait, but you didn’t know it. They must have found it funny to throw you out just because you fell into the trap.

My advice is “grit your teeth” :muscle:

I mean if we’re gonna go with anecdotal evidence then I was kicked once in my 13 years of playing WoW and it was justified.
bad things happen when people with different expectations are put into the same group. if all 5 of you wanted to go sightseeing or free conan, it would be fine. but blizz created an artificial reason for veterans to revisit old content by incentivizing it with a high ilvl item so they treat it as a mythic plus dungeon. that’s life.

If you don’t have friends, you can’t play this game. Just quit before tasting it.

It is just showing what new players do. You see a quest; you read it. It is up to you to decide it is a nice welcome to new players in the game to kick them out for that.

wait for what? 10 seconds? The irrelevant damage? They could just go on and he would caught up after some time. That kick was completely unnecessary and rude.

I don’t know how much they waited, I wasn’t there. were you?

Then you should read the op. It took some seconds for him to get the quest.

so he was on loading screen for like 5 minutes (until his group got to the boss). then he appears and seemingly goes afk after the boss and you’re wondering why he got kicked?
it’s a miracle they didn’t kick him while on loading screen. well…they probably tried but couldn’t because of the kick protection at the start

I’m really sorry this happened to you, Kekmorg. I’ve seen a few of your previous posts and have enjoyed your perspective on Warcraft, as somebody who’s been following the series since childhood.

I got kicked when the Vulpera allied race came out for playing a Vulpera. People can and will kick for basically anything in this game because there’s no punishment for unjust or trigger-happy kicks, and I don’t think there’s really any way to implement that either.

The easiest thing for Blizzard to do would literally be to reverse-train our brains to be patient again - some kind of opt-in mentor system like FFXIV, which I think others have mentioned above too - but with a good, well-spaced and worth it reward system. FF’s is not really worth anybody’s time as it takes a long time to actually get anything out of it - it wouldn’t survive in this game as people need some kind of pat on the back. Perhaps if it had a reward system like RaF where you get one thing every month or per so many dungeons/raids done. Throw some unique transmogs and mounts in there somewhere. Problem solved and maybe some people would remember to slow down for what little new people we do bring in, God knows we need more of them at this point.

Another option would be rewards for clearing FULL dungeons, or more walls implemented for forcing full completions, like they did for Plaguefall. Still many TW dungeons do actually have those walls, so I don’t really have any ideas for those :frowning:

are you trolling? Nothing in his post indicates what you said here. But keep on thinking that was fine. Wish blizz would ban players who abuse the kick vote so hard.

jesus…you guys…
one half doesn’t understand what OP wrote and the other is suggesting some “mentor” system to reward veterans for completing old content where new players are currently leveling through (which is literally what timewalking is).

They have mistook you as someone afk leeching when really you just wanted to pick up a follower. If you do something like that it’s better if you say “2 secs, I’m new to the game and want to pick this quest up” then people tend to be nicer in easier content like that. Or what you can do with stuff like that is just clear the dungeon and go back for it at the end when they all leave.

I would kick you if I thought you where leeching, however I wouldn’t if I knew what you where doing.

I know that it is hard for new players to get into WoW since many of us has been here since forever. But I could absolutely team up with you and run some dungeons. Just call out if you want to play together.

Had I not experienced being kicked out of a group, would I have done it to someone else, it’s very unlikely that I would have.

So in that sense, yeah you can say that I’m being vindictive but to be clear, that’s not what this stems from.

The vote to kick system is what it is and the players are who they are, I’m not going to put time and effort into trying to change the system or the players.

If the game is being played a certain way, I’m going to play it that way, the stress of trying to bring about change, someone else can take up.
