Getting kicked out of party for being new player

As the title says, I am kinda annoyed by the fact that I get kicked out of groups for being a new player. Just now was the last one. I joined timewalking dungeon and got to the ogre cave with the lava elementals (forgot the dungeon name) and while I was loading into the dungeon the group had already gone to first boss. I followed them and joined the fight on first boss. In a previous run at the same place I was told to talk to the human in first boss room to unlock a follower for garrison once I had garrison unlocked so I went to pick him up. During this time the party had already ran to the next couple ogre packs and killed them. That’s when I got kicked. I dont know how they run that fast and kill everything nearly instantly but I feel like the kick was so unfair as I spent 5 seconds to talk to the human NPC and after that kept on moving. My only movement ability is heroic leap in dungeons or am I supposed to have some speed buffs?

And on top of that, when I got kicked my dungeon finder went to cooldown for 13 minutes which I am still waiting to wear off. I also got kicked out of Ephemeral Plains today for dying on a boss. Boss which I encountered for the first time.

What you’re witnessing is an ever increasing impatient player base, unfortunately it won’t change because numbers and rewards are rated higher then helping/interacting with other players.

It might be worth doing runs with your guild (if they want to that is) or joining a dungeon community who may have players doing timewalking for the weekly quest when it is up.

right, so you were late to fights and wandered off to recruit some chap … i can see it now. You didnt say a word about the recruitment, right?
you were kicked because you just wandered off
fully justified kick.

Next time, say if youre going off track and everyone will be fine with it

not easy being a new player in wow in this day and age… most the people who have patience left this game a long time ago…

most people who are left are people who want to zerg rush a to b and get it over asap.

do yourself a favour though and look up some videos on dungeons before you run them it could help you appear less of a new player and more like you know what you are doing.

But the NPC was in the same room as the boss, I’d say it took me 3 seconds to walk to him, 2 seconds to click him and then I continued moving.

And when I joined the group they had already cleared the first ogres. They kept outrunning me.

It happens but not in all dungeons and people . Just forget it and carry on . Just like in real life you will meet all kind of people ,same you will meet all kind of people in dungeons .
Dont take it to heart . I wish you good luck

Hard to ignore it all. When I asked question(s) in leveling dungeons like “could we do all bosses” in Freehold I was told to kms or shut up. The group content in this game has been very off-putting. Out of all my group activities, 5 encounters have been great which I remember to be positive. :stuck_out_tongue:

This thread is just another example why Blizzard needs to put in a mentorship program into the game’s design. For both PvE and PvP.

it works well for ff14 tbh.

Right now, the closest thing WoW has to a mentorship program, is RAF (Recruit A Friend). It gives rewards for playing together with a new player, thus encouraging to play together. Only problem is, that it requires the experienced player to be the one recruiting the new account, and it’s limited only to PvE in the leveling process.

The game needs to expand it, to put in queues for on-demand mentoring, and do one for PvP and one for PvE. It should also include different levels of difficulty, for example learning rated is nowhere near the same as learning unrated in PvP, and learning mythic/mythic+ is nowhere near the same as learning normal (both raids and dungeons).

The problem here is that everyone became elitistic at playing wow since a large percent of the player base is playing the game for 5+ years.

The game is not bringing in new players at all so everyone just becomes better and better at the game so when someone new wants to join the party he has to climb a mountain in order to catch everyone else.

I once saw a study that the average age in wow is 30yo, thats insanly high.

I’m always surprised by the number of people that have this innocent approach to gaming.

I have been playing video games since I was about 5 or 6 years old, I remember the first time I got kicked out of a group in World of Warcraft, these people are mean or that it was unfair wasn’t the first thing that popped into my head, what did was, how can I get players kicked too.

You’re not upset that you were kicked, you’re upset because you wouldn’t have done it to someone else.

Probably so. Unfortunately the game does not feel like MMORPG with that kind of people. So far I have had fun while flying around in the world, mining ores and selling them on auction house.

Edit: Yeah I alt + f4 the game just now when we wiped on boss in raid. Not for wiping, but for the fact that some people are just abusing other players and calling them names.

Sadly it’s not much you or Blizzard can do about this. People are just less patient in general these days. I played FF14 for a while and the community there was really nice, but also one really great feature they had was the option to do dungeons with a party of NPCs. If you are new to the game and want to take your time and explore on your own terms it’s an excellent way to do so. I played every dungeon I could with this feature as it allowed me to watch cut-scenes and just take in the ambiance without annoying others who had seen it 50 times before.

I really wish such a feature was implemented for normal dungeons in WoW as it would allow new players to just take in the content without the pressure of rushing.

There is also little or no incentive for a veteran player to do old content just for sake of helping new players. If I do timewalking or leveling and someone says they are new to the game I don’t mind showing them around but it often results in the 3 others just rushing ahead anyway because you barely need a tank for low level content if players do enough damage.

tbh i got kicked many times over the years… each time i just sigh and move on with my life and join another group…

im not as vindictive as you though, i will admit there has been the odd occasion where a particularly vulgar player rubbed me the wrong way and felt my wraith in groups.

That’s why:

Except there’s a lot Blizzard can do about it.

You’re somewhat correct I guess, but how much incentive would Blizzard need to implement for players to feel it’s worth their time?

That’s for Blizzard’s reward designers to think about.

you must be fun at parties dude. he is new, doing stuff new players tend to do. decent people would ask before they kick someone for something so irrelevant…

@OP As you can see here, some people have no patience at all. I would suggest to watch some tutorials in youtube for your class, the raid and the dungeons or join a guild.

Well if you wana do content with me fella here’s my discord Turiel#8906 Plus i’m not impatient. As long as we’re all nice to one another we can have a great time together i was new once too and i know we all were but some are toxic about it.
