I remember when i started playing mind way in the burning crusade time and got finally the hang on the game ( my first moments in wow were quite the embarrassment getting stuck behind the first rock i saw xD ) i had the feeling i was doing quite well.
had no problem with multiple key binds bgs were going smoothly and gained good amount of marks ( remember the different mark tokens that you also had to carry in your bags with all the other junk? ) and was able to smooth move against opponents in pvp or raid/dungeon bosses in pve
now a dayās however i struggle with reflexes to keep up with people in pvp or failing to maneuver correctly with some boss mechanics or get easily overwhelmed by classes that require to many key binds like my main elemental shaman for example and have trouble using combo key binds like ctrl-number for example in a quick reaction.
im nearly 34 and just curios if people do recognize this to about themselves or in general
and things like jobs and such shouldnāt be really affect as i was more stressed in collage then now and play like the same amount
hehe ty but yea do like shadowlands very much and there is literally for me more content then i can do in a single day which i enjoy just feeling my anxiety getting up lately when doing random bgs and looking for dungeons and worried i might not preform well enough for some people
you wont see me for example dominating the dps charts
I donāt notice so much in WoW as itās a rather slow paced game, but two weeks ago I played a few matches of counter strike against much younger coworkers and well⦠It didnāt go as expectedā¦
Im not 100% sure.
Thereās days where I just fail miserably in many games, no matter the type.
Im 21.
I play Doomfist in Overwatch which is a very demanding character mechanically.
Some days I absolute wreck 1v3, other days I canāt even aim at point BLANK.
Im struggling a bit in WoW too but I think itās because im playing TOO many gamesā¦
I do feel learning becoming harder as we age has more to do with our worse performance than our reflexes slowing down a bit. That, and a shorter attention span. We oldies tend to go into auto pilot mode whenever we feel comfortable, which is a bad habbit.
Absolutely recognize myself in that. My reflexes are way more sluggish and itās not as easy to pick up new things. Iām really good at doing what I know and what I have established muscle memory of doing but if you start introducing too many new things at once I kind of⦠sh*t the bed these days to be perfectly honest.
Iām quite sure itās scientific fact that learning becomes harder as you get older,
expecially since many just goes with the comfortable automode.
To counter age youād have to constantly train your cognitive abilities.
Wait till you get to age 50. Reflexes are gone. You cant remember where you put that natureās cure. You cant rem where you dropped your keys 5 seconds ago.
Sure, rotations only have a few keybinds but we all know that in a prolonged fight you will nearly use all spells at least once. The ones for rotation then if you have a pet some as well.
I get overwhelmed by the amount of buttons that you have to press in ADDITION to moving as well.
Yes. But you learn it eventually. And I think having played for so long people find it instinctive - I mean thereās only so many ways a boss can aoe, cleave etc. But yes, it all stresses me out much more than it used to.
Death comes to us all old soldier
Iām not that much older than you but Iām not ready to turn to dust just yet.
Yeah Iām powering on as i get older. Turned 29 recently and while Overwatch is seeing an uprise of smurfs, alts and genuinley good players, Iām keeping them on their toes much more than I was 3 years back. People have gotten better but people have also gotten better at playing WoW to get tokens to buy new accounts, and I SEE YOU PEOPLE clear as day hahaha.
I hope Iām still rocking the games at 50. What a legacy huh? If WoW is still kicking in 21 years you bet your dogs bootyhole I will be there claiming veteran status and I hope everyone reading this does too!!! hahaha.
