GG pots as in, giant growth?

Aye, those.

They’re just too ridiculously huge. Maybe for some event NPCs but even then it gets comical.

Stick with firewater.

Giant Growth Potions I usually associate with people who just want attention, who just build their character as ‘big’ being their personality.

Also, they often go hand in hand with RPers who usually think size = strength, which then often translates to cases of RP where they try to strongarm everyone in any feat of strength and use their size to justifiy why they can instantly own anyone.

Yeah, I agree with Dekarn. I think that Giant Growth are a little too much - if what you’re depicting is a taller model of the same race.

It might not look like a lot if you set your camera far away from the model, but if you bring it closer and compare yourself to some other character of the same race, the model grows so much that a human in the appropriate mog could seriously pass for a vrykul.

Firewater is a lot better if what you’re intending to do with it is portray a taller character, and it doesn’t come with the effect of having your character roar out at the air every few minutes or so.

I think Growth Pots are fine but they’ve been tarnished badly by a case of ‘ruining it for the rest of us.’ There’s always been a significant body of growth pot addicts who subscribe to a 40k ork mindset of size = power resulting in unpleasant poweremoting incidents and a common prejudice against anyone using growth pots.

Which ruins it for people who just want to be taller, which is harmless fun.

What Karinar said.

Unfortunately a lot of characters who use growth pots make their size their entire personality which makes people understandibly wary of them.

I use them myself on one of my characters but I generally try to defy the stigma.

I keep an open mind for the most part, but I would be lying if I said that I didn’t mentally prepare myself for a quick exit when a GP role-player heads my way. I’ve had enough disappointing encounters to suitably lower my expectations.

It’s not fair on the role-players using GPs sensibly, but anecdotally speaking, they seem to be an endangered species.

I don’t personally see anything wrong with them. I know someone who once used them to make there Human character a little taller to show they’re half Kul Tiran. I can’t see how thats a reflection on their personality as a player in any way.

I don’t mind people using them as long as their TRP is fitting the reason to be that size. (Tall human/elf (which is a thing in lore), Vrykul (which is a thing in lore), Big worgen (which is a thing in lore), big orc (which is a thing in lore), big troll (which is a thing in lore), etc)

I am 100% okay with the Growth Potions if using for event NPCs.

Might be a thing in lore. But when your Human is the size of a Vrykul… Well, yea… Thats not a thing in lore otherwise they wouldn’t have had te be smuggled away from King Ymiron’s rampage.

Again, Giant Growth Pot might work for some races(Zandalari, Tauren, Orcs who RP Mok’nathal, Dracthyr) but otherwise I feel people are better off with the aforementioned Darkmoon Fire Water. Takes me completely out of the game when my 2.13m average Highborne is suddenly next to a “tall” Humans shoulder(not the Kul Tiran ones)

I stick with firewater. I get seen the tauren having a growth potion, I really do not mind that. But seen like a draenei or a demon hunter who is 15ft tall walking around Stormwind City using Growth pot… yeah that is too silly.

You could use them to show that your character is tall, but that’s boring.
Instead I suggest you instead drink any number of risky and unlabelled vials and phials from Azeroth’s maddest leading scientific minds! Lost a foot in battle? You might not be able to get that foot back, but you could inherit several feet in height!

Or it could temporarily turn you blue. Or any number of other outcomes.

(I’d love to see more potions used as potions though)

I always used it to rp my Vrykul .

Not because I want to look super strong or god emote or whatever.
I just dont find rping a normal sized human as a Vrykul to be that immersive is all.

I do agree tho some people use it more for attention than anything else. But I feel , atleast for me , it’s easy to spot who is doing it for bad reasons and those who it just fits their character immersion more .

They are completely unnecessary no matter the concept you roll with and it still boggles my mind that people continue to use them in a game without height sliders so you have to imagine someone’s preferred height anyway (which surprisingly a lot of people seem to struggle with, damn).

Sure, fine, use them if you really think you can’t roleplay without them, I just hope that one day most of the growth pot users realise that the effect is quite the opposite from the intended one. Your character ends up looking like a goofy and comical undead cannibal behemoth instead of a stronk, beeg and powerful one. The scaling tech is as old as this game’s engine, it makes the models look and animate bad, please just do our eyes a solid, thanks.

This.

When you see someone using it, sometimes it feels like you’re witnessing this person entering in some sort of competition with other players to look bigger, therefore stronger. With very few exceptions, it’s usually distasteful.

I will add another point which hasn’t been discussed: most of the players don’t use GG even if their characters are supposed to be taller than average. If you’re using a growth potion, you will look taller than them despite the fact you’re meant to be of the same size, roughly, thus defeating the idea that it helps to create a more immersive setting.

The one race that would benefit from it is, maybe, the Mok’Nathal… because, well, it’s obvious.

I don’t even see a human portraying a vrykul with the GG - I just see a big human. Vrykuls are massive and primal - far bigger than your average human, a growth pot won’t cut that.

Maybe a Kul Tiran model with a GG, but I’d prefer if you just steal an NPC model and use that instead.

I don’t mind them as long as it doesn’t become wholly who they are.
I will excuse myself ic’ly if I need to however.

Giant Growth, Darkmoon Firewater, Pygmy Oil etc. really just showcases the need for us to have real height sliders in game, even if they’re slight.

I can wholly get behind this opinion. As a Wildhammer I’d love to be just that -slight- bit bigger than the average dwarf, just because it feels right. Even Firewater feels a bit too much, let along GG.
