I don’t like it either - there’s no way to turn it off it seems? PVP isn’t enabled in options, WM isn’t ticked. Yet WM remains active by my player profile no matter what.

Nope, that’s the idea of the event, tho I do like it a lot and kinda sad they nerfed it by a lot
if you’re trying to avoid it, your best shot is just avoiding Stormwind for a week.
Problem is there that there already idiots who are ‘ghoul’d’ who say they are going to camp the SW portal room. Soon as I move one of my non mage alts through, I’ll be killed (big repair bill) - ghoul’d, unable to cure myself/remove the effect until the even ends and have hours of my time lost.

The infections aren’t constant, so there will be times when the number of zombies out in the world will be far less, or almost close to 0. I’d say just try to escape stormwind asap. if you’re in boralus just TP to ironforge, if you’re in stormwind you’ll have to wait a lil bit for infection to go down and then flee for a week.
so like, worst case scenario you’ll have to wait 1-2 hours at most, best case scenario you’ll not even transform to ghoul and avoid stormwind for a week 
I’d love to, if the portal hub wasn’t in there. I’m not going to go out into main SW, but I still need those portals.
