Gifting Shadowlands to a friend in NA

Hello. I would like to gift Shadowlands to a friend, who plays in the NA region, with my available EU Battle.net balance.

I know that World of Warcraft email codes are usually region-specific, so this won’t work. But would it be possible for my friend to claim it when I send it directly to his BattleTag?

I know this works with Hearthstone packs, before claiming these the recipient has to choose for which specifc region he wants to redeem them. Does this option exist when sending Shadowlands to a Battle.net friend?

Unlikely as WoW is pretty strictly region restricted unlike eg. Overwatch or Hearthstone to lesser extent: you probably have to purchase from the US store so you can’t use your EU balance for it. The EU store page for SL does not outright say no though and it lists all available regions…

I am sure Blue will able to confirm which way it works.
