Gifting via battle net... a punch in the face

So i have a friend who i am going to pay for their server transfer to my realm… i thought well this must be easy they have a gifting service… so i look, and you cant gift a transfer, i kinda expected this… So the next step was the wish list… i ask my friend to add a server transfer to the wishlist where i would simply pick up the bill for the service and it would be done… but i cant, because i cant see that item in my friends wishlist… ok fine… il just gift some classic blizzard balance… sure thats straightforward as it can be… but i cant… because they use Euro’s instead of GBP… ok so now i start to see what the problem is… so i think maybe i can gift a wow token, but it turns out the gifting feature is just pure garbage…

Its not possible for someone to buy a service or gift something to someone who uses a different currency… what kind of 2005 tech is this… surely someone should be able to purchase a service to be applied to someones account regardless of the currency used to purchase the service… the feature of gifting is just a tease, because 90% of the playerbase cant actually gift anything to anyone outside of their currency sphere… feels like your being alienated from a service, because of the currency you have access too. The whole feature might aswell be removed.

Hello Lolfish,

The currency used depends on the country registered on the account, so there’s nothing you can do about that.

I guess what you could do is give your friend in-game gold, and then they could use it to buy a token for game time.

2005 call and wants its code back.

I can’t gift my UK friend for his birthday, cos I’m in a country that (doesn’t actually) use Euro.
How can you guys not have fixed this yet ?

Hmmm necro.

What applies back then, is still the same now: Nothing needs fixing as it’s an intended limitation that you cannot gift balance to a different currency account.

As Hagut suggested in the past, you could otherwise gift ingame gold instead which they can turn into a WoW token -> Balance in a roundabout way for shop items.
