runes are as integral to character functionality as spells from trainers are, so the fact quests need to be done to obtain them is bogus anyway.
it was fine in phase 1 and 2 because there were not that many of them and blizzard wanted to give people something to do while capped at lvl 25-40-50, but at this point there’s like 55 runes to obtain PER CLASS if we include the ring runes, and the vast majority of the questlines they are locked behind require the player to farm mobs that have terrible spawn and/or drop rates, travel across the world and back several times, and in general just pad a lot time that could be spent leveling instead.
if not allowing them to be sold at vendor for a high price, they could at the very god damn least make them account-wide (so i don’t have to go pick up i.e the mace skill rune 9 bloody times over assuming i have 1 of each class)
the fact people are straight up asking for boosts is not surprising to me, but while i am strictly opposed to straight up purchasing 1-60 boosts + starter gear, i am very much in favor of relenting on the rune collection aspect of the game because its getting a bit excessive by this point.
for all i care they can leave in the rune questlines so people can obtain the runes the old-fashioned way and save some gold in the process, but currently, the fact they cannot be obtained through simply purchasing them (for a steep price) is keeping a lot of people from making new characters and leveling up, because they look at the level grind and then go “oh right, there’s the rune grind too” knowing how awful that grind is, and just say it.
this is me saying “ok, its a bit much, maybe this aspect of the leveling process could be alleviated a bit” without being in favor of straight up boosts.
we’ve already seen what happens the second we give blizzard an inch in regards to boosts and it should definitely never happen in SOD, but purchasing runes is a far cry away from that.
like seriously, its called nuance.
lets not pretend this is a nonexistent concept.
