Give players the ability to level 70-80 in the old world

After your initial completion of the War Within campaign on your first character I would love to have the ability to level from 70-80 in old content. For an expansion that is so encouraging of players having alts I feel this would be a great change and I’m assuming quite easy to implement for the devs.

I support this. I’ve taken a few characters through TWW now. While it is nice to go and do whatever in Khaz Algar, I’ve done all the open world stuff now and it’s getting a bit stale. It would also make sense from a lore perspective, as our alts could canonically arrive with the reinforcements.

It would be a neat feature, but it won’t happen because of 2 things:

1.) The average retail player doesn’t care, just want to level up quick to be able to start the m+ grind as quick as possible (I too don’t agree with this, but this is the reality), this +5% XP bonus per levelled up char is the proof the Blizz fully support this. And because you can level up superfast after your 5th charater, the devs aren’t compelled to put in time and effort.

2.) From the human side, they also won’t do this, because with that they would admit that the old expansion are more enjoyable, that people would rather play those, than the current version. Their ego wouldn’t allow something like that. Look how they butcher long established lore, charaters, so people couldn’t enjoy the world they used to love in the past.

debatable.

I don’t see the relation between that.
People just don’t want to level characters through the exact same experience every single time. Same with how you’re “forced” to DragonFlight.
No, let people choose, let all expansions be viable and let people play what they want.
More options = better

I don’t get why they push it so hard when you create an allied race. You are sent to Chromie but at the same time they force you to accept that Dragonflight quest. Very annoying.

I think it’s just…an unfortunate side-effect of how these pop-up quests work.
Because yes, you can just run to the quest board and pick up chromie time instead.
Just that this “pop-up quest” is so annoying people will follow it and just do what is there.

Honestly, if it was me, I’d just remove every single of these “pop up” quests.
Put stuff as an ingame mail, make an NPC available like the message board that acts as centralized quest hub and be done with it.

Don’t want to do that quest?
Don’t be pestered by it.

The Shadowlands one is even worse. All those DK NPCs that appear in the center of the capital cities and won’t go away until you accept or skip the intro, and even if you skip it, you are teleported by force in Oribos. Why?

They need to funnel people into the latest expansion for the game to feel populated. Stretching everyone over 10 expansions will require heavy cross realm zoning and even then it is questionable how many people you’ll se in the open world.

The game is not populated anymore because after you reach max lvl all you can do is to grind for gear and weapons. The game has become boring, every expansion we must save the world. Without the war between A and H the story is the same : save the galaxy.

I am all for options (I too would rather level in TBC, Wrath, or Cata), but I don’t have faith in the current developer team that they could pull it off right, especially after the way they maimed Grim Batol forever.

Oddly I did level this character from 70 to 80 in the old kingdoms of Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms. I have never once stepped outside of these zones with this character and have done this each time a new expansion has been released. Level to cap that is. Probably not the way you were looking for but doable all the same.
