Give Us Back The Joyous Journeys Experience Buff!

Bring Back the Joyous Journeys Experience Buff!

The removal of the Joyous Journeys Experience Buff has left a noticeable gap in the leveling experience of Cata. This buff, made leveling more accessible, enjoyable, and efficient for all players. It allowed those with limited time to progress meaningfully and reach endgame content faster, making the game more inclusive for casual players while also helping new players and alt-lovers dive into the action.

Without the buff leveling can feel bit tedious and slow, especially in bottleneck zones, which kinda lead to frustration and disengagement. We need JJ cuz it encouraged players to explore more classes, participate in the community, and enjoy what Cataclysm has to offer without being bogged down by grind-heavy gameplay.

Reintroducing the buff would be a win-win for both players and Blizzard. It boosts community engagement, supports diverse playstyles, and enhances the overall enjoyment of the game, fostering long-term player retention.

Another idea would be to make JJ buff available on weekends? Thoughts?

TLDR: Bring Back Joyous Journeys EXP buff, make all happy!

The JJ buff will be returned, probably twice, before phase 4 of Cata Classic somewhere in the end of January-mid February 2025 and in MoP classic prepatch in end of May 2005.

Theres no doubt that they will bring it back, but why shouldn’t that be available much more frequently or why not always/weekends? Like those who would rather level up “vanilla” style could turn the buff off and give the rest of us the option to turn it on at the inkeepers?

Mostly, because Blizzard are using JJ buff as hype boosting tool. The previous buff was around 21 days long and I managed to get new lvl 1 to lvl 58 in most lazy way mixing it with raiding. Player dedicating all his time to leveling most likely could hit max lvl with this massive exp buff. Anyway I leveled my dwarf mage alt till lvl 85 for guild achievement even without the buff.

But the main reason to slow leveling was Blizzard wanted us going into heroic+ protocol inferno and starting gearing for new raid, so low geared players could join as well and prepare preraid for normal Firelands too.

This week my main would get the last items for valor points so there would be no real reason to go into heroic+ anymore. I think this would be also true for majority of mains by now. Without main characters support heroic+ would become slow and tidious as mobs there are just damage sponges.

You can expect that 3-6 weeks before the next phase of Cataclysm Classic Blizzard would use JJ again just to ramp up number of active players before 2025 Q1 quarterly report. This is why MoP prepatch in Q2 2025 and MoP launch in Q3 aka summer 2025 would have JJ before them as well and not sooner.

Yeah I can’t disagree with what you’ve said, nontheless having JJ more often doesn’t seem as a minus, alteast not to me.

If you take my predictions we would have another JJ buff start between 25th of December 2024 and 18th of January 2025. That is soon enough to switch to alts once we finished with gearing our mains and probably progressing at Ragnaros HM or done content of 3rd phase allready.

Blizzard doesn’t want us to rush to level alts in Cata yet as there is ongoing leveling in Vanilla Classic of 20th anniversary edition.

And giving JJ buff would create need to level alts only on weekends, making alt and PUG raiding problematic. No, JJ buff at content draughts before next patch is perfect.
