Sorry to bring this back again but its urgent… Can we get this settled, we need Deep Freeze spell to make a return in 9.1! Upvote so maybe they notice!
We’re already getting Ice Wall. I remember playing with DF and it was good? but I’m actually much more excited about Ice Wall rather than about DF.
Ice Wall gives a possibility for so many interesting and powerful plays: like if you chain-polying a healer, instead of your 3d poly you can pet-freeze, then ring of ice to trap them inside, then put Ice Wall between the healer and kill target. The healer can’t break the wall fast and they have to move around the wall, but they can’t do that fast because of the ring 2s incap and 65% slow.
Or you can simply cast it near the kill target between the target and the healer, and then stunlock target with rogue partner, so they won’t get around the wall.
I.e., in that sense Ice Wall is like a Smoke Bomb. But with 1.5 min cd. And more functionality than the bomb, since it’s 40m ranged and you can use it to peel both melee and ranged dps as well.
So they give us a pretty much mandatory new spell to hype around it, and only for pvp (like it was Glacial Spike at the end of BfA - look at the state of that talent now… it’s a dps loss to use it instead of using no talent and it wasn’t touched for like 2 patches now).
No, thanks. I need a hard cc that can be used in pve as well.
Btw frost needs a serious overall rework to reduce rng, munching and the amount of useless talents and the dps difference between talents. We need a new mastery too, that interacts with all of our damaging spells.
Level 50 row is especially awful.
Oh god. Blizz decided to be creative once in 10 years and its another cc, , another pvp talent, another broken mechanic and guess who got it again, yes mage. Imagine facing RMP with insane burst, being able to kill ppl within a single stun, having smoke on top of it and a wall of los on top of already the mosts broken setup. Why would they even do that?
Every class in game has a stun, except Mage. Make Deep Freeze a PvP talent, I say.
Mages shouldn’t have stuns.
MM hunter does not, neither does Spriest I believe, not every class needs stuns.
Every melee class has stuns though.

I mean, stun is mostly neccesary when you need to stick to target as the enemy kites or to prevent usage of defensives while burning that target down. Mage can very safely burst and deal damage with fire, and frost has ring of ice, and many other slows and new ice wall which can also act as a mini stun if you LoS the enemy, and he will have to move around or use cooldowns to get it out of the way.
So by that logic dk doesnt need a stun because of chains of ice?
Yea the class needs some tuning.I mainly pve and prefer it over fire because its a simple class but I feel like the class has too much windup alot of the time.
I also wish the ice lance rng was well…Less RNG.
Maybe some qol of life improvements?Like making blizzard/rune of power insta cast?or am I asking for too much?
None of the ranged classes have more than 1 hard interrupt. Freezing the target also acts as hard interrupt.
As a hunter you do neccesary interrupts mid combat with ice trap and bursting shot, if your regular one won’t work or is on CD,
Ice mages have the same tools to interrupt enemies or stop the casts like many other classes. Crying that it’s not a stun does not really mean anything.
And in PvP yea stuns are more powerful but frost mage has a million of utility in PvP allready with talents.

Do you mean casting ring of frost to interupt a cast? ‘Ice mages’ really don’t have the same means to stop casts. The only instant stop they have is counterspell. Must be the worst spec in the game for it.
Also all of that had nothing to do with what I wrote.
Not exactly interrupting casts but interrupting in general, if you cast in a way enemies on the edge and know/have add-ons for timers you can get an interrupt in this way by minimal movement in the last second.
Or is that too difficult for people to install an add-on or two.
Also quite often enemies cast spells to buff and mages can spell steal which is in a way preventing and even gaining advantage from that as well, each spec got its own way of denying enemies.
Are you talking pve now? Any spell on a timer is from a mob that cannot be cc’d.
I mean both PvP and pvemages have one of best cc, poly, ice wall, dB, Ring, etc etc. What mages lack is cc that doesn’t break on damage but many classes don’t have that except for melee.
But mages can get off polymorphs with shimmer and such, if mages had deep freeze which did not break on damage, they would have to make shimmer go away as mages have one of best and hardest to Interrupt CCS.
MOST specs have a CC that don’t break on dmg. Think it’s just the mage specs and MM that doesn’t.
TBH, IDK - I don’t have space for more keybinds. Just up the damage of mage.
