Giving friend gold

Hi so i’m just looking for a little bit of info.

My friend is new to the game so i’m wanting to buy a token for him then give him the gold as a surprise so he can buy stuff like mounts and battle pets.

He is lower level right now i just want to make sure if i trade a lower level player that much gold from token if we will be flagged or if we will be safe

Pretty sure gifting WoW token is not possible. And token cannot be traded directly either. Token can be only bought for yourself for money and then sold on AH for gold or bought from AH for gold and turned into game time or Blizzard Balance.

If you just want to give gold directly to him you should do that, and I probably would start with lower amount than whatever the current token value is currently - there is not that much need for gold during levelling. Or you can just give him 20 euros directly.

He’s not trying to give him a token though. He clearly says he wants to get a token and give his friend the gold.

As Punyelf has said. I’m wanting to buy the token and sell it and just give him the gold i get from selling the token.

He has looked at some of the battle pets and stuff and likes them so wanted to give him some gold so he can buy some

You can directly buy battlepets and mounts, as gifts, in the shop. No need to give them gold. Which would be safer, as it wouldn’t trigger any suspicions.

Just select “GIFT” instead of “Buy for myself”, in the shop, and it will ask for their battletag, and send it directly to them.

The pets he has been looking at are on the AH not on the shop so he needs gold to be able to buy those.

Will wait and see if someone from Blizzard stops by and sees this and maybe they can confirm if will get flagged or not.

Automatic systems might trigger, or might not. Nobody knows how they exactly work and I doubt Blizzard CS can confirm one way or another, other than appeal if they get triggered. I have transferred (years ago) larger amount of gold to friends and guildies without issues. For example during BFA I helped several guildies to get Francois pet which requires that you have 1 million gold. It doesn’t actually cost anything so you can give gold to person who will then give the gold back once they have the pet.

Personally I doubt ~200k to 300k will be enough to trigger it, but there is always risk of it happening.

Some things, like adding your friend as a friend in Battlenet might help to reduce the risk but who knows.

If the pets are on AH they can be bought and given to your friend as well so that would avoid the issue with the gold.

Thanks for the info guys. i think at this point will just wait a day or two to see if Blizzard can confirm or not. then will just decide how i’m going to do it

Hey Manlex,

As long as the gold is from a legitimate source (including tokens), and there is nothing else untoward going on, you have nothing to worry about

Thanks for looking after your friend and best of luck getting up and running together!
