Glory of the Dragonsoul Raider

soo yup here I am again, still about the raid achievements (Glory of the…)

Me and my mom have decided to perhaps try and do the few achievements we have left on the Glory of the Dragon Raider, but I do wanna ask once again about two specific achievements.

The first is the “Taste of the rainbow!”, can u do it in one sitting or do u need to do each combination separately? basically what I’m asking is, do I need to do the raid 4 times for each combination??

And the second one “Chromatic Champion”, all though I’m aware that this achievement is not something u can do in one run, I wanna ask how u “start the assault” on each platform.
Like, am I supposed to, once I get to the last scenario, begin to hit Deathwing on one platform, each time I do it?

Im so confused honestly lmao and before anyone ask, yes I have searched it up but it gave me nothing cause I’m still as confused as before lol, that’s why I figured it would be nice asking nonetheless :))

I don’t remember for sure, but I believe I did the rainbow tasty one in 2 runs. Takes a bit of time though, and is annoying, so you may as well spread it out over the runs you’ll need for chromatic champion anyway. For that one, I’m not sure what triggers the attack of the respective dragon aspect, but I think you need to head to their platform first and do most of the damage in the battle from there.

For Chromatic champion, you need to speak to Thrall and then quickly get to one platform, that’s where Deathwing will start attacking an Aspect first and what counts for the achievement. It’s also tricky to get to Alextrasza because she’s far away from the platform where Thrall starts the encounter, so chances are Deathwing will try to attack one of the two platforms in between by the time you get to her.
There’s a trick involving switching to another platform and then launching the encounter with Thrall, so that you get the speed buff and reach Alex in time.
Also, let Deathwing attack each Aspect, i.e. don’t kill him too quickly else it will bug the achievement.

Yes, it’s a mess :stuck_out_tongue:

He spawns three different colour blobs and you can only kill one colour. So you need to get all the combinations that the achievement sets out. Let him absorb the colours listed. You can do it in one raid sitting, be careful not to kill him early.

From the comments Chromatic seems to be four visits to start on the respective right places.

Thanku for this! <3

well it sure as hell sounds a bit tricky consider how extremely bad I work under stress lmao

But as we will be two people, I wonder if it’s possible for one of us to start the encounter and the other one being on a platform, like the furthest away. Will it start the attack on that platform or the platform that the one starting it is on?? XD

Not really related to this topic, but there’s a nice addon called Istance Achievement Tracker that explains every raid/dungeon achievement in detail and tracks the progress on that during the fights telling you when a boss it’s safe to kill or if you need to reset the boss because you failed the achievement

If there are two people is it possible to have one of them on that platform while the other starts the fight?

I only ever did it solo, I used Paladin with Divine Steed to speed me accross each platform.

Also, even though the Meta achievements are account wide these individual achievements are not and must be done on the same character over a couple of weeks.

With all of these achievements, you want to

  1. Read the COMMENTS on the Wowhead page and
  2. Watch YouTubes that you will find using the achievement name

Punyelf linked all the information you might need.

From one of the commments: " Since Deathwing will assault the aspect on the platform with the most players on, I thought this might work:"

Yes, the issue in being 2 is that you can’t really tell where Deathwing will attack unless you both stand on the same platform, which is tricky for the further ones because one of you will have to speak to Thrall

Perhaps Stealth, Feign Death or Invisibility might sway where the attack comes?

When reading Wowhead comments keep an eye on the patch where they were last editted. sometimes achievements are changed to make them more soloable after time so older comments might not quite reflect what is true now so if you see a comment saying “Not Soloable” and it is from patch 4.x then keep reading and you might find one from 6.x saying “Soloable since last patch”.

omg thanku so much for that!!

Taste the rainbow you can do in one sitting, just takes time and have the colour combinations you need close by so you dont mess up.

When Dragon Soul was current when the Raid leader started the encounter Deathwing would attack the Aspect hovering behind the platform with the most players on it. Therefore what you need to do example, Alexstrsza and Kaalecgos, being the furthest away, is have your mum stand there, start the encounter, and very VERY quickly, join your mum before Deathwing attacks.

Do NOT let your mum kill any tentacles until you are on same platform. Once you land on her platform, you can then blast the tentacles one by one.

You will need to use this strategy 3 times in three weeks. I would suggest you try Alexstrsza first, then either Nozdormu or Kalecgos, as Alexstrasza is the furthest away from your starting point which is Ysera. For Alexstrasza you need the raid leader to be quick to join the platform. If you have three players its a lot easier, as they can attract deathwings attention and hold it without you stressing about getting there quickly enough. Leave Ysera’s platform till last, as this is your starting point. Its very likely every player will have this part unlocked as its the first place Deathwing logically attacks.

But remember the golden rule. Do NOT use any attacks on any part of Deathwing, until you are sure Deathwing is attacking first the Aspect you want him to because his tentacles will die with a few attacks from a SL geared 60.

As for time Dragon Soul meta completion will take you a maximum of 4 weeks, including complete Chromatic Champion which in total takes 4 raid resets.

Getting to the latest platforms is not tricky at all tbh. Literally start the encounter and run there. You got plenty of time, just don’t be scratching your nose once you start the encounter.
