So apparently Blizzard added a glow/light reflection effect on the eyes in 10.1.5? I think it looks terrible. All it does is make my characters (especially my human and orc) look like they are either blind and/or cross-eyed. I was just wondering if I was the only one who dislikes this change and if there is any chance way of turning the effect off in the graphics options.
The implementation is a bit off.
Probably best to just keep it as a static dot on our eyes. Without shine eyes tend to look a bit soulless.
i have 2 humans characters and just noticed it. itâs a white circle glow that follows your camera, not to be confused with the eye pupils which are always black.
Soulless? No-one ever mentioned anything like that in nearly 20 years of WoW.
The glow makes their eyes look grey, at a distance it looks almost exactly as when you choose to make your character blind. The aesthetic of WoW has always been cartoonesque, rather than realistic. Adding the glow is unnecessary and doesnât have the desired effect of making the character look more realistic. Quite the contrary.
There is something wrong with it.
Here is my armormy picture and as you can see, there is eye shine there too but itâs not bad looking compared to in-game now. (Might want to zoom in a bit)
Ok, so they clearly changed something and unfortunately for the worse. My current AD character.
As you can see the eyes look noticably different on this recently updated character than the older one over.
yea looks good on worgens. crappy on all others that has âhumanâ eyes. blind.
Yup Iâve noticed that too, it made me laugh quite a bit
Not noticed it myself but I think I spend the bulk of my time looking at my char from behind.
Seen various comments about it though, I will make the effort to look at the face of my char next time Iâm in game.
You wonât see it on elves though. You donât see the effect without pupils.
Nope. I love it.
I noticed it on the character selection screen when my cute little Tah looked more cute than usual.
well like it or not. it shouldnt be in the middle of the pupil. slightly above it should be.
every artist knows this. or you get the blind eye effect.
Ah that explains it, will take a look at other races.
Thanks
Something you are already quite experienced with i see.
I noticed the same when I removed my glowing eyes

I also realized that one if my Dracthyrs eyes looks like she has Grey Star and one of the pupils is little blind touched while the other one is clear black. I find it disturbing somehow
I noticed it in the login screen as well, does it happen ingame too?
My human looks all cross-eyed and my worgen looks super dead. Itâs such a pointless and badly made change. I wish they would stop wasting time on stuff like that.
I havenât personally noticed it though perhaps I should check, but WOW does that ever look bad.
Did we get an update about this? Has Blizzard acknowledged this in order to fix it? The reflection really looks terrible on the character selection screen (and it is also off in-game very often). Makes the character look derpy, or like they have crossed eyes
