Blizzard, I’ve been asking myself for many years, why you are not doing this or this. Years passes and we still don’t see development of good ideas you implemented before. I won’t list all these ideas but one of them is class quests like warlocks have.
Another one is glyphs and the idea of them changing or adding new animations for your skills. I’m sure we are not going to have glyphs like they were in WoTLK to MoP, where they were not only cosmetic but also were a part of player RPG customization.
Glyphs in their current state are boring, almost useless in a sense that their cosmetic element in most cases is poor, plain, imperceptible. No special interface for them like we had before. The main point is that they are much worse than they were before, many years ago, which means that this is a regression. You just abandoned it, spit on this important part of the game, utterly disgusting.
(You did the same with many aspects of the game, but then again, no matter how frustrated I am and would like to express all this once again, this topic is about a specific moment.)
It’s been 12 years after glyphs were introduced. Now I’m asking you, what is this?
This is hunter’s glyph of stellar flare. Cool, huh? 2020 is already underway but it looks like something from 2004. Maybe I am mistaken but I remember in Everquest 2 was a profession that could change animations and effects of your skills. So after all these years, also when really many people have been asking you to develop this idea further, you added some new glyphs in Legion like for DH to change their wings’ membrane color.
What’s going on Blizzard? We know you can do much better than this. I am sure it doesn’t take that much time and money. Also since it’s an important part of the game with a not cheap subscription it is your responsibility to develop it, not to abandon it. At least before it wasn’t a problem for you when you really were paying attention to details. What was the problem to add at least recolors of skills? Like red skull for warlock’s shadow bolt, saying as an example.
Some people offered an idea of returning back old ability animations in a form of glyphs and I think it’s a brilliant idea but still not the best way of developing this concept of cosmetic glyphs. You don’t need to create new animations thus you barely need to create anything. I’m sure you saw people saying about this. Why ignoring it?
Many people dislike new ability animations. Some animations feel poor quality or even not volumetric. For example, previously mentioned warlock’s shadow bolt, I dislike the new animation. For me it doesn’t fit warlock’s fantasy and also looks kind of “fairy tale” magical. Also the previous animation, that flying skull and that fascinating green effect when the bolt hits a target with that sound. You can easily add it as a glyph.
Why did you remove the triple volley shadow bolt glyph? Is this some kind of “we do not want other players to be confused by these possibly unfamiliar for them effects”. I thought before that maybe you forgot and later you were going to add this but now after all these years I’m so confused by such your actions that it makes me angry because I can’t see any rational reason why you are removing remove such things and not creating, developing, adding others things. There is even couple of glyphs that do absolutely literally nothing and this shows once again your passion towards World of Warcraft.
