Yeah i did the 4th this month will be my last day on the forums😉 so thats like 2 days or so left for me.
It was a retort to the “We could have used our spaceship to annihilate Orgrimmar” line you came out with. The Vindicaar really ain’t as good as people like to make out. It ain’t destroying -anything- much from orbit, hence ‘tickle a Kobold’ 
But yeah, back on track Gnomes are pretty damned groovy, they survived a combination of Cthulu ‘They dug too deep’ horror, mixed with the mass gassing of their people, then when the reactors started failing a Czernobyl type experience followed by a ‘28 Days Later’ type scenario.
All at once.
The Survivor’s had to fight their way -up- through the Gnomeregan city levels, as the Gas was pumped in from above and descended (The one that turned people into Leper Gnomes).
They have the tech, they have one of the Primo Special Forces units in the game world in the form of Gnomeregan Covert Ops and their racial leader is basically a pint sized Tony Stark/Iron Gnome these days.
They also can’t be punted by anyone who doesn’t want to roll around the floor in agony from a broken shin.
My one gripe with them is the voices, something with that build and barrel chested would be deeper than a Dwarf even in terms of their voice, not squeaky.
I have my own personal headcanon as to why they, and Goblins are the two Engineering daddies and why other Races have to learn one of the two Engineering techniques from them.
(This is only headcanon, Blizz haven’t stated it, but it makes a weird kind of sense)…
Engineering by it’s nature will involve a lot of maths, many of the other races will have learned maths using the decimal method, because, well, they have ten digits on their hands combined, that’s why we kind of count in tens as humans. Now both Gnomes and Goblins only have eight digits on their hands combined, so their maths are likely to be base 8, rather than base 10. So any non-Gnome or Goblin is going to have to learn a new mathematical system, than the one they already know, and because those are the two races who pretty much are top dogs at Engineering, a lot of the blueprints and formulae are going to be in base 8, rather than base 10.
Just a thought, but it appeals to me.
No, that part I got. It was everything came after that was nonsence.
Also its pretty clear why they and goblins are the only engeneer races. Gnomes are descendants of Mimiron, the engeneer construct, he was the only one constructed with that purpose, and he created the (old) mechagnomes to help him with that. Prety much its programed into their DNA after the curse of flesh. As for Goblins, they stumbled upon kajermine (i have no idea how its spelled) and they became super smart, smarter than the gnomes even, but it also had a drawback, one exposed to kajermite would develop an explosive personality if you know what I mean.
TLDR They are smart because their smart.
Also x2 you are overexagerathing the events at Gnomeregan. They dug too deep to unearth trogs, not a chthulhu but trogs. And somehow with their superior intelect and gadgets they lost, so they tried to nuke the burly hurlies and it backfired… They have failed to reclaim their city ever since.
That is not exactly true sisco thermaplugg or whatever he is called released the gas to stage a coup not to stop the troggs…
Ok fair, but he did sell it as “nuke the troggs” and the others did gren light the idea. Still stupid that they can’t reclaim their cities from trogs… Whats next Mechagon being taken over by gnolls?
