Gnome Paladin, When?

If Gnomes can be priests, then surely they can be paladins.
No I am not salty because Tauren can be Mages all of a sudden and Gnomes get no love.

I will support gnome paladins if worgen and pandaren paladins are made available in the same update.

…tbh idk which I would play, but I do like worgen in plate. My worgen warrior is good, but I want one that can also heal…

They wouldnt be able to raise the hammer up. Too heavy.
And a paladin punted would be embarassing for the entire order.

  • Night Elves can be Priests and - contrary to Gnomes - have an actual faith and a religion their culture is based around.
  • Night Elves can also unironically be Warriors.
  • 2 Night Elf Priests have become Paladins in Legion, so there is a precedent for NElf Paladins.

And yet there are no Night Elf Paladins, even though they’ve been foreshadowed for 2 expansions now.

Seriously, though. Gnomes lack an actual faith based culture. Humans /Dorfs have the Light, for Draenei the Naaru (technically also the Light), Tauren worship An’she, Trolls worship the Loa and Forsaken worship their Sylvanas body pillow. Gnomes and Goblins are the only secular, atheist races on Azeroth. I don’t think a class that is rooted in its devotion to their faith would suit a Gnome. Gnome Priests are already silly enough.

This all makes sense. In what way would you add things to make a gnome paladin possible?

After Undead Paladin.

Gnomes can’t be paladins because they are too short to reach the light.

Just an old joke but gnome heights haven’t changed since.

On the topic of it: just make everything available on everyone. Lore doesnt interest most people anyway and with factions beeing abandoned we can get rid of the class limitations as well.

Can’t reach the light :frowning:

Edit; somebody beat me to this joke, sad times.

TBH gnomes look dumb with plate and heavy weapons, the less the better.

Not sure I would even want to change anything. Gnomes just aren’t a spiritual people.

Effectively you could argue that with Tauren Priests/Paladins and Gnome/Goblin Priests there already is a precedent to just remove all class restrictions. I’m just a bit weird in that I think Tauren and Zandarali Paladins are already pushing it too far, as the racial restrictions on Paladins have specifically been placed on Light worshipping cultures so far. As neither the Tauren nor the Zandalari worship the Light I think neither should be able to be Paladins.
And if you argue that they are still faith based warriors, just for An’she and some Loa… where is the argument against Moon Guardians? Night Elves clearly have an entire culture devoted towards worshipping the moon goddess. In principal they should be allowed access to the Paladin class, if Tauren and Zandalari are allowed in.

However. Gnomes have a culture centred around science and research. They do not worship any particular deity. Gnomes should not have Priests, and Gnomes should definitely not have Paladins. The day they open up the Warlock class to Draenei and Tauren is the day you can have Gnome Paladins.

As pointed out above, this is a logical inconsistency. They allow non-Light worshippers access to a class that has been specifically limited to cultures worshipping the Light so far with the argument that they have a spiritual culture and therefore can have warriors of their respective faith. To which I say fine, this makes sense. But it doesn’t make sense to lock out an extremely faith based culture on the grounds that they don’t worship the Light. Because Tauren and Zandalari don’t do that either.
