No, but I def prefer it over being forced to raid.
It’s much more reasonable to make the best PvE gear come from raids and best PvP gear from arena/RBG, than current system of all the best gear being from PvE sources.
Besides you never were forced to raid. If all you’re interested in is dungeons then the gear from dungeons leaves you more than capable of doing them.
WotLK had a pretty good system with it’s heroic dungeons and currency to buy PvE gear.

If by basics you mean circa 2006 TBC, then yeah, I’d give that a go again for a few months. But I’d still want to play my main in new content eventually.
I’m not the one who talks bad about classic but instead of doing a variety of content, in classic people clear weekly MC to gear up. All they do with that gear is clear MC faster next week.
Both games are quite repetitive in their nature which is not necessarily a bad thing. I enjoy both.
Furthermore, you don’t really gear over WQ in retail. Most people probably gear through Mythic+.

In classic there’s 2 ways to gear, through PvP or Raids. In BFA theres still only 2 ways to gear isnt there?? Either Raid or M+.
I mean hasn’t that been the case throughout all of WoW?

- Raid offers the best gear
- M+ offers comparable gear to raids
- PVP offers gear based on your rating. On a very high rating, you will receive good gear, It’s arguably much less efficient to gear through PVP though
- WQ emissaries offer normalmode level raid gear
- Depending on the weekly event you might get a heroic-raid item from doing open world content
But yes if you want “the good gear” it’s raid and M+, you’re right.

They feel like they need to change for whatever stupid reason and start changing things left and right.
Like, your product brought people for a reason, why dismantle all of them?

Just that you’re forgetting m+ exists now and I’ll must likely will have to raid to push the keys that I want to, certain specs already had to do that this patch anyways, like brewmaster monk.
With the exception of the last 2 bosses of Ny’alotha, mythic+ awards gear equal to mythic raiding from the weekly chest. It’s only the carapace of N’Zoth and N’zoth himself that drop 485 gear.
Sounds like an Alliance mount

ilvl =/= how good the items are, especially for azerite & trinkets.
Look at all the different progression systems they have in BfA:
- azerite gear
- boat mission with small talent tree to grind
- necklace
- cloak
- vision thingy with small talent tree to grind
It’s a complex mess that is neither funny nor efficient to play with.
And the worst thing is that it must be a pain for them to manage. I mean, they spent probably 1-2 years of dev time doing and fixing all that… only for everything to be discarded in next xpac !
WoW is 15 years old and they still haven’t figure how to have a coherent, efficient and fun endgame.

Fair point, the trinkets are desirable.
But they’re not mandatory for M+
Not if you do 15s, no, but they are if you wanna push anywhere to above average.
They have access to more data on player behaviour and retention factors than you ever will.
So, that’s probably why.
And less toys. More content and less toys blizzard. Lets move some resources out of the toy department and make more into making dungeons and raids. And with dungeons I mean like adding new dungeons through major patches.
Like the dailies that this forum seems to hate to the bone while they were begging for it back in 8.0 / 8.1 ?
