Go Inside Season of Discovery Phase 2

I just joined my first GDKP ever this raid reset and i got 7 gold out of it.

So instead of doing a raid only for logs (since i am pretty BiS) I got 7 gold for a 25 min raid.

Why would people be against getting free gold i wonder?

It’s better than spending time farming.

yes please check every single trade i have done, i have literally nothing to hide, it’s sad that you think only people that buy gold would defend GDKPs, if you believe in the free market then you would understand why GDKPs work,
let me ask you though, have you never sold an item on the AH that you yourself would never pay for? such an expensive BoE or a recipe? who do you think buys those?

I believe the main profile of gold buyers is simply people just starting out the game and not wanting to struggle leveling, so they get the minimum amount, just enough to kick start professions and get some gear.

Anyway I don’t fundamentally disagree with what you’re saying. Any time players trade gold, some will want to take a shortcut. But GDKP in SoD is barely functional to begin with due to the raid size and how easy is it to get loot compared to more classic raids (again, my average cut is 5 gold). That means we’re at a point where bots are plaguing the game and players buy gold, but it isn’t being spent in GDKPs (yet), so they must have another way to spend it and reason to buy.

Am honestly a massive fan of this phase, all these whales and GDKP hosts finally getting their overdue reward.

Lmao, cringe.

If they enforce the rules like they do for botting we’ll be fine running GDKP’s every lockout without ever getting banned. Also GL catching GDKP’s who only advertise within their discord, you guys have trouble spotting rule breakers if one was standing right in front of you breaking the rules.

1 less boss than BFD to spread the loot, going to be worse than BFD lmao.

“We wanted to provide everyone with a sneak peek at just some of the new runes that they will be able to discover as they continue to level up to 40.”

Waw really ffa PvP event way to kill the game for solo players… I was looking forward to this event thought it would be big group battles. Hope your ready for it to fail it will be the strongest wins and the casuals will quit

Traps in combat? tearly river is about to flood the forum :sob:

I feel like even the unholiest of hunter haters will admit this is well earned

Everything sounds awesome… especially STV and banning GDKPs.
Everything except the runes… i really hope the ones that we still have to discover are more exciting.
Literally every single rune announced is very underwhelming.
Shadowpriest will need lots of love, otherwise it will remain useless.

Sounds great! Good changes with matchmaking / GDKP.

Disappointed by warlock runes (wanted help for the aoe threat) but passive eclipse for Boomkin is absolutely massive. They are gonna pump super hard now.

From the perspective of a mage I like these changes and they all get my thumbs up

New profession asnd no more gdkp. Adding personal loot system may even avoid ninja looting and some other issue.
Well done Blizzard.

Lol @ all those who are hyped for the GDKP ban.
If you expect all these GDKP runs you see to magically turn into MS>OS and let you gear for free on your gray parsing (or fresh w/o even pre-bis) character just because you are lucky enough to win a roll then I have bad news for you.
What will actually happen is that there will be almost zero raids closer to the end of the phase and those geared and skilled guys who will still want to pursue their last 1-2 pieces will never invite you after checking your logs.

Disliking a certain looting system is fine, not participating in it is fine too (like I’m ignoring raids with HR) but not letting others play the way they want? This is just plain ridiculous.

People are participating in GDKP runs NOT because they are buying or selling gold.
They do it because:

  • It’s the most fair loot system for PuGs - you either get the item you want or you get gold if it doesn’t drop or you can’t afford it. You won’t come to carry the raid and then lose the roll to some gray parsing or a freshly dinged dude.
  • Even if you are fully geared, you still do the raid every week, helping those who still need gear.
  • RLs get rewarded for spending loads of time getting the group together and organizing the raid.

Many are complaining that “if you don’t like it don’t participate in it” doesn’t work because in Era there are no raids except GDKP. But you should realize that if GDKP was banned in Era there would be no raids at all. It would be already completely dead. Because those who are fully geared wouldn’t have any incentive to raid.
GDKPs are not the cause, they are a symptom.

Blizzard claim that the reason for banning GDKP is to promote guilds and socializing.
This is clearly not true. What is causing the guilds not being needed and ignored by most of the players is that BFD is basically a LFR-difficulty raid. It can be cleared by any PuG group at this point without any issues. This is what is killing guilds and socialization.
If you want people to actually join guilds, socialize and use guild-based loot systems (DKP, EPGP, council) then the raid should be significantly harder. Most PuGs shouldn’t be able to clear more than half of it. Only that would be the solution.

And if the raid is PuGgable, there will be mostly PuGs doing it (because people are lazy in general, me included). And the most fair loot system in PuGs is GDKP.

What we will see in p2 is much less raids in general, most of these MS>OS runs that remain will be with HRs (probably, multiple) and towards the end of the phase, the servers will be dead…

And those who believe banning GDKPs will hurt RMT in any way are really delusional…

Its crazy to me how Devs are so detached from the status of the game. Whats gonna happen now is the only gear people can buy will be BoE, which means they will soar in price, which means more people will buy gold, which means more bots. There’s aboslutely 0 chance banning GDKP will affect the bots, and everyone who cried to ban bots will cry about the economy even more when all AH prices soar through the roof.

Stop crying, the GDKPs were just a gold pump for the gold sellers, there are three types of people who defend the GDKPs, those who benefit from gold buying on a third party site, those who buy this gold, and the organizers who are sometimes in direct collusion with the gold sellers.

In short, you were participating in this whole system of Bots and gold sales.

Afterwards I imagine that those who bought their places for real money in a GDKPs roster will have it bad… but this is a big CHEH.

You know what also fixes all of them problems.

Playing the game for fun, In A guild with people you enjoy spending some time with, who are in the raid to help you gear just as much as you are there to gear yourself.

You know… Like it was originally intended before gold farming became a thing
