If you use Zen Pilgrimage before finishing Kezan storyline, then use Orgrimmar portal and set up your hearthstone there, you will never be able to return to Kezan/Lost Isles to finish your starting zone.
Which wouldn’t be that bad if not for the fact that you can’t use LFG/LFR or queue for BGs/Arena without finishing your starter zone… to which you can never return… effectively leaving your character forever stuck in a limbo.
I assume this also works like that for Worgen Monks. (only tested myself on goblin though)
This needs to be fixed ASAP, imagine spending hours playing your character only to realise it’s forever broken because blizzard couldn’t be bothered to play test this thing… sigh…
Troviak is right, infortunatly blizzard doesn’t care for bug reports done via forums, so writing It in-game Will have way more canches to get noticed than on the forums.
Don’t be ridiculous, this is official blizzard forums, if this is not the exactly perfect place to report bugs then whoever works at technical support can bring this to attention to whoever takes care of bugs.
Ultimately this isn’t my problem anymore as I’m aware of this massive oversight and it won’t affect me anymore. Blizz should be happy I bothered to report this and if they want to scoff over it “because I didn’t make it through their laggy in-game tool” then screw it, I don’t care.
Wanna know something? Even if you don’t set up your hearthstone elsewhere, if you log out outside of your starter zone, let’s say with a warlock summon (which in that case warns you that you won’t be able to return) then your hearthstone is set to the Orgrimmar entrance (or Stormwind if you’re worried about the worgen). It also checks any necessary flags to let you use the dungeon finder or any racial that you normally get by playing the zone.
Yes it means you won’t be able to go back to the starter zone, but it solves a bigger problem of potentially bricking the character, and also allows goblin and worgen to be summoned outside and play a different starter zone if they wish.
Hmm an in-game tool that automatically sends your feedback or support staff who are explicitly instructed not to pass on reports because it’s not their job and if they did that people would just take advantage of it and flood them with stuff like that? Which one should people use?
Interestingly, Blizz do have an official KB article detailing the two official methods for reporting bugs to them found here:
Now this KB article advertises 2 methods of reporting bugs:
In-game bug report tool
Bug reports forum (with a link to said Forum)
What’s curious is that the bug report form it links to is the US WoW forums which require you to have a level 10 character on a US WoW account to post on. (Which EU players generally will not have)
Checking the EU Forums and following exactly the same navigation path of the US forums, we realise that EU doesn’t even have a bug report forum, unlike US.
Essentially EU players only have one path to report bugs, and that’s using the in-game tool. (Or create a US starter edition account and level a character to 10 I guess, but not sure if starter edition characters are valid for the Forum check)
Blizzard don’t have a bug reporting forum on the EU side because the developers don’t want us to have one. They want bugs reported via the bug reporting tool in the EU, because it sends the report directly to the developers.
The deveopers do NOT read the EU forums. They’ve even said so.
