Hey peeps! So I’m wondering how yall are making the golds with the new AH change I have spent 90k gold on trying to get leatherworking to provide a nice amount of gold but I seem to be throwing gold at it and getting not much in return. So how you guys been doing in this new economy? And some tips would be nice! Thanks peeps, enjoy your day! : )
Honestly, crafting seems to have been on razor thin margins for a while now.
If you’re really going to game the AH, it’s always been about flipping. Whether anyone can still do that in this new merged AH… is an interesting question.
Personally for gold I go with an alt army, ding 60, throw them some anima, invest in their mission table and let them provide 1-2k per day with barely any interaction. It doesn’t sound like a lot, but if you have 5+ doing it then it does scale nicely. Doesn’t make megabucks, but does keep me solvent
Boosting
I know some MMORPGs where every thing you buy gets instantly bound to your character when you buy it.
Maybe that is something blizzard should look into?
A nice method was crafting transmogs that are rare - like old bop crafting recipes with low drop chance, or where rep is required from old content. Not sure if that still works well. I at least noticed that the prices for alot of things dropped ALOT and the crafted items are often cheaper than the mats for it.
Apart from that: boosting m15 for gold was quite lucrative
If I was interested in making gold out of the AH changes, I’d be taking advantage of the speed of throughput, grinding old mats like Primals and Volatiles, which will now actually sell in any quantities you are willing to farm. It’s pretty grim, but it’s what we’ve got.
And sniping, ofc.
I just dont see the point of people selling crafted items for cheaper than mats or sometimes if u are lucky for like 1% margin. Enchanting has been like that the whole expansion. For example mats cost 500 and enchants costs 520. Well I just sold my mats rather than trying to sell that enchant, as mats sell kinda fast, and u might not even sell your enchant.
But on the positive side, all the stackable items sell almost instantly, so at least u know u will sell them most of the time.
lol gl, youre not gonna make any gold of this auction house
tmog market is dead. not enough ppl+ account bound apperance=no sales
Eh… there’d be a lot of micromanagement with sending gold to the character that needs to buy it, and some of them have easier access to the AH than others (engineers/mage).
But I could see this working to prevent the unending flipping of items. It is tiresome to see 10 of each BoE epic, all at the same price, all by the same seller.
Although sometimes I price something 100k below a goblin’s and don’t care if they buy to relist or someone else gets a bargain; I just wanted a guaranteed sale. That would come to an end with bind-on-buy. But that’s probably good too, since we’d stop seeing BoE 291s for the equivalent of a WoW token. I mean really, who’s buying 14 tokens to kit out their character in midrange gear? Who are the goblins selling to? ARE they selling??
I think this is why they are trying to make crafting relevant to the game in df.
I think the only way to make solid gold now before df would be boosting - not that I do it, need to finish up my own challenges then maybe see if I can get into it for rest of the season.
I am going in on getting crafters ready for df though, risky? Yes. But if it proves anything like the legendaries did in sl it will be a lot of cash to be grabbed. So much so that as I haven’t raided properly since cn I’ll be putting all my efforts into getting crafting up and running asap on df launch.
Oh I stopped crafting entirely. Now it’s all mats and transmogs.
I spent lots of time collecting old world rare patterns across old expansions; everything from niche gems, engineering toys and unique transmog. For a while it paid off, I was making a reasonable amount of gold after many years spent collecting these recipes.
Now, 99% of those crafts sell for less than the material cost, so that is over for the time being
I have realized that if I want gold, I am better off freelancing IRL and buying WoW tokens instead. There is no way I am doing the mind-numbing herb / ore / skinning grind
For now, on LW, what I found to still work to an extent is to buy leather and bones, if you do not have any, and then buy threads, craft mail bracers and sell them to the NPC.
currently, as much as I want to delve into the market there is little point in doing so: Bag crafting is dead, because people sell them on the AH for a net loss (thanks to Blizzard upping the price of Penumbra Thread) and other markets aren’t really profitable unless you have the mats yourself.
If you do not plan on flipping stock and make consumables out of it both Heavy Desolate Armor Kit and alchemy potions (intellect,Agility, Strength) are still worth a nice sum if you collect the materials for it.
Armor and such do not have a really big market for right now I feel.
