Gold should not be required

I have the bad habit of adding stuff in my posts, could I please have some feedback on the second paragraph above?

I believe the real problem lies in the supply vs demand problem that the leggo crafting in SL has. Blizzard could had regulated the price by making crafting high llvl leggos more accessible.

Thus the issue is that Blizzard is happy to sell more WoW tokens

It’s not that crafting someting OP with in game currency is bad
it’s how blizzard did it here
for example they could do it easy way
you know no need for rank 1-7 base items
they should go with no ranks just base items and then you can spend currency upgrading ilvl to 291 for example with crystals from korthia or the other thing from ZM
This way new player who go straight into ZM can craft his own leggo by just playing the game
and prices will be not that high cause everyone can do it

I tend to agree. I tried to avoid stating that outright but it does feel Blizzard is just keen to sell more tokens

I think they’re also keen to make professions relevant. The thing is I don’t mind paying 1k gold here and there for enchants, but I do mind paying 100k for a legendary piece (which I have done before).

How I made more than a million after returning. Absolutely mind-destroying, at least you can watch a youtube video in the meantime.

Some do, I have a raid and a M+ legendary. I got them R6 though, R7s are also 250-400k or more on my server, not giving these rats my gold!

Lastly, I’m not running Torghast in my life ever again

Exactly, all this is only a problem because Blizzard is fine with it being a problem since if benefits them to “hunt whales”

There’s plenty of gold farms for 50k+ an hour. That’s 1-2 hours of farming on a huge server like silvermoon/draenor. I think it’s fine and the price is good, can actually make money off professions which is nice. A month into 9.1 herbing/mining/skinning were down to 5k an hour on silvermoon which was tragic.

We have entered a new age of gaming where in game currency plays a crucial part in progressing a character. As unfortunate as that may be, you can see that trend with all the new games coming out.

People like to bash WoW for being P2W (and honestly it is at this point) but it’s just how multiplayer games work at the moment.

Listen, I used to be angry about this myself. But take your time and analyze all the new MMOs on the market. They’re a lot worse than WoW in that regard.

Gold is a pretty trivial thing in WoW at the moment. The game throws gold at you for doing anything. You can buy it and then you can buy gear, carries or whatever else your heart desires. And the thing is, this system is here to stay. There’s nothing to be done but roll with it. It’s the new age WoW and we can either adapt and accept or move on to other MMOS (but which ones?)

sure, if you consider it “winning” to have a geared character with achievements while all you’ve done in any fight is lay flat

Yea but do you raid and m+ on such level where 10-20 ilvl on one piece will determine wheter or no u kill boss or beat timer ?

Well you’re right and that’s not my idea of fun either but hey, I guess we all have different pleasures in life.

That can happen on any level. Who does not have timed or not timed a dungeon on 0.1 second?

Thanks for the input

Wow is still a leading MMO. It doesn’t need to follow others and can set it’s own course. I would also point out Lost Ark allows PVP players to be fully competitive without spending a penny and even without doing any end game PVE.

Wow also has such a complex and manipulable economy. It gets really messy when some people practically take on using the AH as a day job while the majority of players need the AH just to play the game as intended.

If you mean to say Mythic Raiding : no. I aim up to HC raiding, but I want to aim and push higher keys yeah. So putting it like that, at least I may require 2 legendaries for M+.

But 400+k per lego, no Sir

Well of course. But a gaming company is a business and they will strive for big profits. If the competition is doing it, why shouldn’t we?

You can also progress in WoW without spending a penny. Gold is fairly easy to make these days. The legendary alone is not an impossible task. I made millions at the beginning of this expansion just by joining some boe runs. I still have money to pay for my token.

I mean you can always buy lower ilvl legendary, you get same power boost minus irrelevant ammount of stats pretty much. Also just looting chests and farming ciphers etc im getting progenitors essencia passively, not even target farming it. Also waiting for 9.2 i did callings on 6 characters so like less than 1hr/day effort and got almost 2m gold from it total, paragon boxxes+items you get etc it adds up.

39172 posts no mythic raid only +15 no current glad

guess people value time different LMAO

You’re right and you should say it. I bought my initial Legendary in 9.0 and basically spent all my money. On a piece that is now below or about the Ilvl of ZM Greens/Purples, not sure which. And even the cheapest upgrade costs more money than I ever actually had in this game.

I don’t want to be forced to do things I absolutely loathe - including mindless node or mob grinding for hours - just to keep what is supposed to be my most powerful Item/s this expansion up to date. At this point I really preferred the way we had Legendaries in Legion. Which was still garbage.

  1. As others have already said, you don’t need to recraft unity - 265 ilvl is plenty good enough.

  2. It’s easy to make enough gold in game to buy one 291 base item. Alternatively, I know plenty of people who planned in advance, bought 262 bases when the price was low, and will wait until the price drops to upgrade.

To those who are saying ‘I exclusively do x content and there isn’t much gold in it’, I am the same. I choose to spend my time in game doing content that costs me gold rather than makes it - M+ and progression raiding takes a heavy toll in consumables and repairs and only a few people get lucky with a high value BOE drop. Because of that choice I make - the one where I focus on expensive content rather than doing the many activities that make gold - I top up my account with tokens, but it’s a choice, not a necessity. I have plenty of friends who would never buy tokens and who have far more gold than I do.

regardless on how easy or hard it is to make gold, shadowlands legendary crafting was piss poor way to leech a few tokens from “more dedicated” players.
1 single rank that you could buy with rep would be enough, still 1 craft needed

have it been like and enchant u had to buy upgrades with soul ash and drop on a new piece of gear it would have been fine.

hell, even a power slot system at ur covenant would have been fine instead of going to the armor

the knew exactly what they were doing when they made it a huge materials sink just to rank up
