This is the first expansion in many where fundamental player power is gated behind gold. Possibly the worst of all time in that sense.
In 9.2 many characters will need to craft two new legendary pieces afresh. The items go for 100-200k a piece on the AH right now on my server. As I play 3 chars that’s up to 600k gold on a single pair of legendaries on each character.
Now before people say “making gold is easy, this shouldn’t be a problem”, let me point out 2 things:
- a wow token costs nearly £20 for under 300k gold. This clearly shows gold is valuable and in high demand
- doing the content I enjoy - that is PVP - I make barely any gold whatsoever
I’m fine with gating all sorts of cosmetics behind gold. Mounts, toys, peta, transmogs. But legendaries? It just forces players to spend more time doing things they don’t enjoy.

First of all, u dont need rank 7 twice on each char .
Second , u dont have to recraft unity , u get it for free ( rare cases where your only optipm is either tier or belt )
Third, do u need maxed legos at all ?

The gold value does vary but the price is static for the token, it’s £17.
I agree people should not have to resort to buying tokens to be able to afford legendaries.
I do make enough gold just doing dailies to buy mine without having to resort to tokens. The price of the runecarver items seems to vary greatly depending on what the base material is.
Some prices are maintained purely by flippers and others are just kept high by the crafters. It’s not been a good system IMO for crafters or those needing the legendaries. The levelling up of the profession is a gold and mats sink, you have to make a loss on all the lower stuff and then make it up on the later ilvls.

gold is worthless, and before this expansion the only valuable item you could buy for it was the wow token.
blizzard’s goal with these legs was to keep professions relevant throughout the expansion, otherwise the value of crafted items would plummet once the market is saturated.
Unless you need to do world first raiding, or top level m+, then there is no need whatsoever to require the top level legendaries!

Everyone who is challenging him/herself tries to get the best geared possible though.

11 Years playing the game and i’ve always been broke. I really don’t know how hundred thousands of gold is so “easy to make” if I don’t have the time or interest to play the AH

Apologies, they seem to have gone down a bit. I’m lookin for at:
- c. 70k plate
- 60k mail
- 60k leather
- 50k cloth
- 50-70k rings, neck
The point still stands in that I’m not making material amounts of gold with PVP and still need to buy gold to keep my character up to date.
But that is their choice, not a necessity
Need is relative, but in PVP it’s a big deal. My point is, why would you gate player power behind gold? I think it’s philosophically wrong

we’re not making money with raiding or dungeons either mate. in any normal game you make money by doing difficult/risky things (the riskier the more profitable since others aren’t willing to do it).
but in WoW you make money through content which SUCKS AND NOBODY WANTS TO DO. like flying around in ZM for hours clicking on chests

Yes, can also of course just unsub since it is ‘impossible’ to play the game the way you like. Everything is a choice. It is not an argument.

Again, that is your choice, if yiu wish to unsub then do so, you say its impossible to play the game the way you like, yet many players are doing just that, be it PvP, raiding, or m+
I’m not sure what your point is. Are you saying we should play through content we don’t enjoy just so we can feel we’re not left behind in the content we do enjoy?
Let’s remember this is a video game. It’s meant to be fun

I don’t think people should compare with other people. Yesterday someone told me i am in a toxic environment because i got 1 family day per week where i can not log in the game at all. Many players can. Also many players can’t
Whatever.

I would like to ask how many people truly feel the difference that ilvl in the legendary slot gives them? I am not talking about a 190 ilvl piece but you know nothing extreeme
Agree 100% crafting leggo shouldn’t be tied to profesion at all and definetly shoudn’t be tied to GOLD…
gold should be spend on fun stuff like mounts pets and TMOG
not a power increase of your character…

Is it not the usual thing in RPGs for some player power to be derived from in game money?
I believe the real problem lies in the supply vs demand problem that the leggo crafting in SL has. Blizzard could had regulated the price by making crafting high llvl leggos more accessible.

We’ve had it with BOEs. But these are usually temporary power increases until you beat the content yourself and get your BIS gear. The problem here is the BIS gear is always tied to gold.
