Gold squish before WOTLK?

I think this is needed… I have done like 3 GDKP runs and already at 3k gold, it seems like the economy is heavily inflated.

Everyone be running around with those 20k mammoths the first few days of WOTLK… You either have to squish gold, or adjust vendor prices to the current inflation.

Everyone will be running with mammoths regardless. If you can’t squish bots and gold selling, no gold squish will help. One thing your suggestion will achieve though, stealing gold from players, who earned it the hard way via farming mobs and quests, who did no RMT and neither participated in splitting of bot farmed gold in GDKPs or via AH full of shady gold.

Ofc they need to hammer down on gold selling and botting as well… But as you can see, they failed at that and therefor a gold squish is needed whether you like it or not.

This is how private servers are doing it:
The gold squish means that every piece of gold that exists in circulation, be it in the character’s inventory, mailbox, guild bank, website trading system or otherwise, will be simply halved.

Blizzard should do this too.

Or even a better solution: adjust them on a character/account level basis. If you are an enjoyer of the RMT gold spoils via GDKP, you get higher prices. Rest get normal prices : )

I just mentioned to you that without banning of bots nothing would change. RMT will buy as much gold they need in an instant. You will only punish fair players.

And don’t get me started on privirate servers who strait on depent on shady RMT and are even selling cheese items.

Banning bots/gold sellers and buyers + gold squish thats what I am asking for. The economy has been ruined already, without a gold squish banning bots and gold sellers now won’t fix the issue either.

Fresh Wrath SoM would probably handle it better.

Don’t derail the thread pls

Nope, what about those of us not having done any of this. Like the taxing system, you have to put a limit below which there’l be no squish.
This is very egoistical wish for me: I have no big fortune, I got the Brewfest ram back in October - and used then all my G. Not playing much since (only on the Era server) I have as level 52 almost no money still. I try saving a bit for when Wrath hists, but so far not much. If this was halved or anything I’d plain stop playing.

BTW you clamoured for gold squish - or gold limitation before TBCC it did not happen. And I seriously hope it will not happen once again. You only hit the few remainig honest players maybe even driving them to buy gold as well.

Yes ofc, Blizzard should have the data on whats a “reasonable” amount of gold to have entering WOTLK… I’m not saying squish players who have 1k gold in their inventory. But generally, people seems to sit on way too much gold looking at vendor prices for mounts etc.

Back in original WOTLK development, the gold prices where set on vendors to match the gold inflation at the time… Which means this time it needs to be done again by either a gold squish, or vendor prices adjusted to current inflation. Otherwise, this will be a poor “classic” experience for wotlk.

Or just move more content to personal currencies, just like it happened in Wrath, diminishing role of gold in player progression, leaving only vanity and basic crafting items trading in gold.

You ain’t needing that much gold in for your everyday consumption. Player just accumulate it for GDKPs bidding. And summs allready reached limits beyond average human physical ability being able to AoE farm it.

Again. This will only punish the honest players, not the gold buyers.

Not quite true, I am not a gold buyer… But the amount of gold I earn through selling on AH/participating in GDKPs I am still part of the infalted economy. I can still sell basic crafting mats for 10x the original price back in 2008. So even if u don’t straight out buy gold, you are automatically wealthier in the current inflated economy…

So what? It was easy to farm gold in classic and it gets easier every expansion.

Which is why I’m not buying one. We have enough bagspace to go questing/raiding without the need of a vendor and if we’re in a raid where mounting is possible there will be at least a few players with it for repairs. It’s an ugly thing anyway. I found the transmog mount from MoP way better.

I think the majority of people cares about the economy, its inflated and not in line with any vendor prices at all. Gold selling, botting and the general economy should be an important part of classic. I guess we just have to agree to disagree here

Are you talking about thise who lazy to farm or something? Who cares about them. Economy is perfectly fine

OK, but still we do not all use AH and so on. I have not those huge ampount of G - something with me, I’m sure, because it was always like this, also back in the days. I am always broke, as you can see if Bfewfest ram levaves me at literally 50 S at level 50.
I’d HATE a G squish.

EDIT: And I could not care less about the economy. It does not concern me as long as vendor prices are not made to fit rich people in-game, or the G is diminished in value some way or another.

If you don’t use AH, or earn gold in GDKP… You are probably not a target for a gold squish lol.

So adjusting gold prices to inflation will only boost gold selling and spiral inflation even further. That’s how economical crisises are started, free market just hike up prices and speculates untill most of the economy is ruined.
