I would like to report a serious issue regarding the Golden Hearthstone Card: Lord Jaraxxus toy, which is supposed to drop from Gul’dan in The Nighthold during the Collector’s Bounty event.
According to your official announcement: https://worldofwarcraft.blizzard.com/en-gb/news/24213953
…it was clearly stated that the drop rates of legacy collectibles have been increased for the duration of the event. However, despite this, the toy appears to not be dropping at all – neither for me nor for many other players.
My case:
I obtained the Gul’dan mounts long before the event began, so mounts eligibility is not interfering with loot.
I have completed 636 kills on Gul’dan , specifically farming the toy.
According to the Rarity addon, that equates to an estimated 90.14% chance of the toy dropping if it had a 0.5% drop rate.
Let me break this down mathematically to highlight the problem:
Scenario 1 – No Event Boost (0.5% drop rate):
P(no drop) = 0.995^636 ≈ 0.045 → This means there’s only a 4.5% chance the toy hasn’t dropped yet. Still unlikely.
Scenario 2 – With Event Boost (5% drop rate):
P(no drop) = 0.95^636 ≈ 7.8 × 10⁻¹⁵
That’s a 0.000000000000078% chance of not getting it after 636 attempts — basically impossible.
This clearly suggests the toy is either:
Not included in the loot table correctly.
Or not benefiting from the drop rate increase during Collector’s Bounty.
Additional concerns:
The toy is not listed under Gul’dan’s loot in the Adventure Guide. (Adventure Guide > Raids > Legion > The Nighthold > Gul’dan)
It also does not appear in the Toy Box if uncollected.
There’s no visible drop rate in-game, and players are left guessing.
I submitted a bug report over a week ago, but no reply or fix.
It’s extremely frustrating that we’re dedicating so much time to this event – neglecting Mythic+ or PvP – only to find that this toy might be completely bugged or missing.
Request:
Please confirm if this toy is actually included in the Gul’dan loot table.
Verify if it’s benefiting from the Collector’s Bounty drop rate boost.
Consider updating the Adventure Guide and Toy Box to reflect the item properly.
Most importantly: make drop rates transparent and verifiable in-game to avoid confusion and wasted time.
I have also recorded a video to support this report and can send it upon request.
It is very frustrating to dedicate hundreds of attempts to farming this item, only to be met with silence, uncertainty, and no results. I hope this topic brings this to your attention and leads to a fix or at least a clear response.
Edit: the item is on the list of items that should drop at a higher rate, my bad
If you believe, based on your farming attempts, that there is a bug with the item drop that you would like to report, I’d say use the bug report feature in the game. The forums are marginally less screaming into a void, but in reality the only way to get some semblance of feedback is to tweet at the devs and hope it gets traction from enough eyes that they feel a need to check it out.
The following will have drop rates increased by up to 10 times (and in one case, 25 times!), while your chance for Transmog loot drops is doubled in legacy (pre-Dragonflight) raids and dungeons:
All pre-Dragonflight legacy mounts from legacy dungeons and raids
Thank you so much for the detailed write-up on this, it really helps get the ball rolling on any issue.
Good news and bad news in this case, with the bad being that you were correct and the bonus drop chance wasn’t being correctly applied for this item.
The much better news is that it has been fixed since a day or two, and there is still some time left to go on the event. I can see you got yours already, (grats!) and for anyone else still going for it I hope luck strikes soon now!
I’m so sorry for the wild goose chase. I realize a lot of players already, and in some cases needlessly, invested significant time and effort based on inaccurate info, and that shouldn’t have happened.
While I can’t give anyone their time back, I will keep my fingers crossed for anyone still getting after this drop, now with significantly better odds
