This 1.2 million gold mount, along with a bunch of other expensive goldsink cosmetics was recently added to the game, and let me start by saying, i have no problem with things costing a ton of gold, but the problem is, these items wont be easily available forever, they will be moving to the BMAH by August. Didn’t this happen before? Oh yea, the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur.
I know that it is relatively easy to make a fair ammount of gold these days, and i am not disputing that, but gold is not the issue here, the time limit is. Why must people who dont have millions of gold stockpiled be punished for it? Why can’t these items stay available at the vendor, for people to buy, wether it takes them a week or 10 years, to save up the gold?
FOMO sucks and using it as a business scheme to sell more WoW tokens is really scummy.
Edit: I know it’s not really FOMO because the items will still be available on BMAH, but again, it was the same thing with the Brutosaur, and how often does that show up on the auction house? Once or twice a year? and what does it sell for? Im guessing a lot more than the original 5 million gold. My point is, Its not fair to expect people to raise a large ammount of gold within a certain time limit, and punish those who can’t.

The Brutosaur was much worse, since it provided extra functionality. The bug is just a regular mount, among hundreds (quite a few cash-shop only), and you can get the same model from the trading post, just a different color.
It’s probably easier to get over FOMO (by reminding yourself that you’ll never have everything that was or is in the game anyway) than to wait for companies not to “fully utilize” people’s FOMO.

FOMO items are about getting an item and bragging to others that you have it and they don’t. If they make it infinitely available there is no brag factor because anyone can get it eventually.
That is true.
Also true, and im already in that mindset, i gave up on keeping up with everything in this game years ago, but i still think its bad game design and anti consumer.

It’s more Blizzard wow token farming. Collectors will want it before it goes to black market. Everything becomes at least 10x more expensive on there.

No one is expecting you to, if you have to save up for it, you’re not the target audience.
The majority of players that are going to spend 1.2 million gold on that mount, those players have way more than 1.2 million gold.
Gold Sink.
I dont see much issues here , they added it and right away told us when its going away , plenty of time to grt gold and buy it .
And as mentioned , its judt a regular mount , and as and goldsink needs to go away, otherwise people wont rush to sink their gold…
But yea fomo is stupid
I know quite a few players who just bought tokens for the Bruto.

fomo is a great way of making money for blizzard so it’s not going away and this is just cosmetic . i don’t like it but there’s nothing we can do about it. i also don’t like the excuse ‘‘it’s a gold sink’’ no it’s not it’s just them making more money because if they want to they can sink gold in a day and reset the inflation even private seervers do that. they’re just going around edges and using most of the possible methods to earn more money. if the alternative is increasing sub prices or selling expansions for even higher amounts then i prefer this way.
Not sure if some yellow bug mount and “AH in pocket” are comperable.
I mostly have a gripe with bruto cause of that huge quality of life improvement not cause its some random dinosaur mount.
So adding some random mounts on FOMO doesnt really have much as affect as adding a mount with a QoL …as FOMO.
i agree but bruto stayed for a looong time

Comparing this to the brutosaur is not even close. As stated above, the brutosaur provides extra functionality that alters your gameplay.
For this kind of mount I find it generally ok (there is already retiring mounts with gladiator/aotc mounts)
And keep in mind, the goal of the “goldsink” mounts is to remove gold from the economy. If you just add mounts, some collectors will buy them but not as many as possible.
By making the mount available for a limited time:
It might not be “good” for some players, but the general health of the game it might actually be a better decision to retire it in 6 months or so.
there’s always a gold sink method(like brutosaur itself ) but it never changes anything . the gold that’s being sinked doesn’t help or do anything so can we agree on it that it’s not a way to remove gold from the game… they can just do Redenomination as a temporary fix to inflation. the game economy isnt the reason here

But it works, from the days of legion gold became way more valuable up to the middle of DF (data taken from wow token historic data).
Also with redenomination you just piss off 99% of the players, since you just reduce the value of all gold they have. Blizzard is trying to remove gold from the economy in a way that players are “content” with.
The problem is that they were too successful with Brutosaur, and now I do not think they have found any way with similar effectiveness.
Goldsink mounts are by definition added to address game economy issues. If they wanted to just print money they already have the game store mounts.
yes and they have mounts there, the scarab mount isnt special enough to put there lol
nothing they did in legion made the token price drop significantly, (according to data ) the biggest drop was BFA launch & i think that’s about brutosaur and they removed it from the game . so if the actual intention was to fight gold inflation they wouldn’t remove the biggest gold sink from the game. this scarab won’t help at ll.
redonomination may piss people off at first but after a few weeks people will realise how important it was and IF THEN they add mounts like this & fight with bots, they might manage to stop inflation or at least slow it down

They are comparable in the sense that they are both time limited gold sinks. Their functionality is irrelevant.
Up untill the the brutosaur, No gold sink mount has ever been removed from the game. The spider from legion is still there, the yak from MoP is still there, the mammoth from wotlk is still there.
Removing the brutosaur was clearly a fomo scheme to sell more wow tokens, and this new mount is exactly the same.

I mean Blizzard did say they were going to do more of these in the future because they have the trading post now, so it’s not super suprising that they do what they said they were gonna do.
Because the idea is for you to go spend a ton of cash on tokens so they too can make gold aka money.

Now you have a chance to obtain 1,2 mil gold till august it’s like half a year
so go and do it and stop posting this nonsence
because we gonna get another threads abou tHOW blizzard didn’t gave you enough time to make gold for mount
Something like brutosaur
you had 11months before it was removed to grind 5 mil
that’s a lot of time
Ask yourself, do people have gripe with bruto cause its a random dino or the fact that its an AH on demand?
Think bruto would have been so sought over if it was just another dino ground mount?
