Good 1vX World PvP Classes?

Hello.

I am looking for fun classes to play near exclusively in World PvP.

Primarily classes who have the potential to fight Solo vs. Many (by their own toolkit & by using Engineering, Consumeables and other.)

I play on the Horde on Argent Dawn, meaning I am on a 25% Horde / 75% Alliance Warmode shard most of the time (and I prefer it that way). So far, I have been playing Drakthyr, engaging fearlessly (recklessly) to +10 Alliance Warmode chests on the regular, ganking most everything level-appropriate I encounter, and attacking unprovoked whenever possible, NPC Guards or not.

It’s been fun, but I could perhaps use some recommendations and ideas for other classes to try out. Ones that might function better in than Devoker in my chosen form of gameplay.

Demo is top notch in 1v1 but nobody will duel a demo so its pointless.

Hmmm, Demo is not a bad idea to be honest. It is tanky, a caster, and has CC. What it lacks somewhat is mobility, but you can probably compensate with Engineering & Consumeables.

If people refuse to “duel” demo, the concern might be more around whether people will flee the instant they see a Demonology attack them out in the world. I am not exactly asking for permission to engage, so their willingless is trivial. Still, a good idea for a nice class.

1vX has been dead in WoW since they added 50 stuns/cc to every class in the game, also everyone has 5-6 burst and defensive cds.
For 20 seconds, even a complete noob can become godlike when he presses everything, and there is nothing you can do to beat 3 guys if they just stun you and pop everything. Also with gear in pvp being equalised, you are even less likely to beat a lot of guys, even if they are backpeddling noobs.

Best method of winning a 1vX is to never stand and fight them traditionally, get a mega mobile class, and keep kiting them, always be ready to dash away during burst windows, and keep Trinket for when you get big stunned and they use big stuff.
If they are all dps, you might win by rot damage / burst 1by1, if they got a healer, its lost anyway.

Maybe: Feral Druid. WW Monk. DH.
All are very mobile, have cc, can setup stuff, have burst when needed, have some survival options.
DH can be very squishy when stunned tho, so be aware.
Caster: Mage. The only one mobile enough, bursty enough, has tons of escapes and Cds, tons of CC.

Lock is really strong in 1v1, when you can control an opponent, but if you face 2 meeles, you wont cast anything.

  1. Rogue. Sap, blind, stun while you can kill the other dude. If first guy trinkets you still have a almost immunity with cloak/evasion… Current assassin output you’ll only need to apply bleeds for a few seconds and can choose to vanish and watch the target die from safety even!

  2. Disc priest :upside_down_face: good survival and def cds. Some useable in stuns even! Damage on par with an actual dps!
Only problem you will have is tanks or hybrids maybe… Which brings me to a tank!

  3. DK, prot warr seems to be the tanks with most dmg atm in pvp? So I guess those will do best when tasked with killing someone on their own…

Rogue, they have an arsenal of utility and can always get away with vanish+cos.

Or if you want to be almost unkillable and cheese, try a blood DK. Full vers, plus 10 stacks of the PvP buff makes you almost impossible to kill 1 Vs 1.

Holy paladin can burst hard, can heal on the go and if times get tough. Bubble HS somewhere other than the capital to keep your assassin buff.

lmao no.
dk is the lowest on dmg in pvp
infact the highest blood dk in pvp is 1500

you would be better playing gaurdian

Tanks and Healers are off the table. I am looking for a good fight, not to frustate my opponents to the point that they will simply run, or try to CC > mount.

Fair point on the PvP gear equalizer with 1vX. You can still stomp a little with those who are yet gearing their alts, since a lot of Alliance folks will be using Warmode just for the Warmode buffs, while sticking to their PvE gear. Against fully geared Conquest or even Honor geared folks, some more effort may be required.

I suppose what I was looking for was a class with enough mobility, burst, sturdiness and CC to be able to temporarily fend off more than one person at a time. Devoker has got close to this, but the kit feels still slightly incomplete (new class and all.)

There has been great suggestions so far. Leaning most towards Mage atm, due to their crowd control, burst and escape potential. Also a range class, which makes kiting easier.

Wpvp is completely different to arenas with buffs. +20% versa on a blood DK and +15% dmg healing assassin buff makes them very hard to kill and they hit hard. Not to mention flasks, food and nitro boots.

They have tools to counter all classes and death strike will keep you up forever.

Honestly, rogue. Sap + Blind with defensives like evasion for melee or cloak against casters. Kill one person, reset. Kill the 2md. Stealth is op in wpvp

warlock, rogue , mage, Windwalker monk, maybe a hunter ( but hunter has no healing )

ImO for open World PvP are 3 things the most powerfull.

  1. Selfheal
  2. high mobility
  3. mass CC

my suggestion:

  • Feral Druid (more in selfheal and mobility)
  • Demon Hunter (good in everything)
  • Survival/MM Hunter (more in cc and mobility)
  • Fury Warrior (more in Selfheal and mobility)
  • Arcane Mage (more in CC and Mobility)
  • maybe Affliction Warlock (more in Selfheal and CC)
  • Outlaw Rogue (more in CC)

For me survival Hunter is the most fun. U actually are a Range-Meele hybrid. But the Selfheal is not that good.

Ret Paladin is okay in 1v2 or even 1v3 scenarios (if your opponents aren’t communicating and/or good) since bubble can make you full immune (unless against warriors and priests, but with well timed cc it works too), Justicar’s Vengeance build makes you put out a ton of damage (atleast when you have your cd’s) while still healing you for the same damage dealt (which makes you stay alive longer in a fight where you are outnumbered). I often times deal with 2 dps training me down in World PvP quest areas and I’m able to deal with both. Now, if one of them is a healer, you’re out of luck and will probably lose.
