I honestly don’t know where to direct this question, but I’ll try out this general customer support part of the forum.
So I got an email just now from email@em.blizzard.com but I’ve never played on a German client, never been to Germany, never picked German as my language in any Blizzard product/website, and most importantly: I’M NOT GERMAN.
I don’t even live anywhere close to Germany btw. Just for the record.
The title of the email was in English, but the content of the email itself, with the “now is your last chance to get battle for azeroth rewards” as the title of the email says, is entirely in German.
Something went wrong there on your end Blizzard. Please unflag my account from German email lists.
UPDATE
Alright, so now I noticed I can even scroll down the email… and it has all of your EU region languages included.
Please stop that. It’s lazy af. It’s just the same commercial message with different languages and even a different alphabet, with the same images. In the same email.
I’d like to avoid needing to cancel the subscription to emails from Blizzard. It’s still a good way of receiving information about updates and deals, but if you’re gonna do it this way then it’s just junk email.
Why is it junk? It’s still in English if you scroll down …
I got the email on another account and deleted it straight away as I thought it was just in German, now I speak some German so I knew what it was about but others probably won’t and there is nothing to say it’s in other languages further down, maybe a link bar at the top saying the languages it’s in.
I do think it is lazy not to send an email for the language in your account settings. It was probably sent from the US PR dept.
I got it in German too
Edit: just got an English version separately.
Yeah, same here. But ok, so to break down what (probably) happened since you can probably infer a few things from this, is that they had a template email rolled up into the same file, with all of the languages for the region. Then whomever is in charge of the EU emails accidentally sent out the template with all of the EU languages to the email list, so after noticing the mistake, the appropriate language’d email for the accounts was sent out after the template had been split up into the proper language for it.
It’s still lazy though.
+1
I hope it never happens again.
Hey there,
An email was indeed sent in error including different language translations. The correct version matching your communication preferences was sent shortly after. Apologies for the confusion!
