Got kicked from a guild because of my nationality

This is so frustrating.
I got invited to a guild - They were recruiting and said nice things like “We’d really love if someone like you could join our ranks” and all.
I make friends there, did some runs with the guild master and an officer yesterday too, everyone was friendly and I felt like we really bonded
Today on a call I mentioned being from Israel
I wish them good night, leave the call - Not a minute after I see I got removed from the server.

Is there anyone to complain to about this? Worth opening a ticket about it?
This is so unjust, I didn’t even say anything political.
They asked why I’m awake, I said because I have planes flying over me constantly, asked why, said I’m Israeli.
A minute later I see I got kicked out.

That’s literally all there is to it.

Edit - Important to mention said guild isn’t “Awakened Raiders”, you know how the info shown on the forums can take time to update.
So yeah, not hate towards them or something.

First I hope you will remain safe, and consider that bringing real life situations into WoW may upset people. Or that they may want to shield their more immature people from such situations. I sincerely hope you can find a proper guild and friends.

As for the gist of things:

No.

Discord server? They may remove you for any or no reason.
Guild? Same thing really.

In both cases, even if the country affiliation part was mentioned by you: As long as they said nothing, it is a valid kick and therefore not against either WoW or Discord rules.

You may not name and shame on the forums. Deserved, or not.

You may explain what happened though as what happened is how we raise awareness on making WoW a better place for everyone.

Fine, removed their name from the original post. But how exactly is it allowed when it’s 100% racism? Literally no other reason to kick me out, and the timing also strengthens my claims.
Isn’t there something in the social contract about, hell, not being a racist jerk?

Exactly what I did throughout the entire post basically…

I am sorry that you had to experience this. I get tilted, too, when politics and IRL stuff affect your MMORPG experience. Leave IRL in IRL and don’t bring it to WoW, some people are just racists, I guess. Kicking you surely didn’t prevent the war from going on.

You may confuse this with a protected employment or other place where they must give you a valid reason to lay you off or such.

Guilds and Discord community servers do not need to have or give you any reason to boot you off.

While the timing is circumstantial, as long as they said nothing they’re in the clear. No rules were broken. They are not required to keep you in the Guild/Discord.

The social contract tells people to play nice indeed. That does not require them to buddy up with everyone forever. For example if I wipe 5 times in M+ I am not sticking around, sorry, my time’s more valuable!

If they did say something, racist or discriminatory, I meant: You can report them for that and it’ll be taken care of.

Thanks, appreciate the explanation of the situation.
It sucks so bad but if that’s reality then I’ve got to deal with it I guess.
I’m better off without them anyways.

no it´s not, as long as they Dont flamed u ingame because of your nationality

The Admin from Discord/Guildmaster can do what ever he wants to do, if it comes to kick someone from the Discord server/ guild

Just put them on ignore and move on

it´s anyway cringe when People in an online game cares so much about politics or the nationality from other players ingame

My guild has someone from Israel, nobody cares where you’re from in 99% of guilds, but if you find yourself among a group of people with strong political leanings and beliefs, particularly those associated with activism, you’re going to find lunatics that will treat you differently/poorly because of it.

Better you find out about those people now than later, forget about them and move on, it’s not worth the hassle.

I’m sorry this happened to you OP. Next time you apply to a guild privately ask the officers if your nationality would cause an issue. That way you won’t end up joining a new guild, making friends, and getting kicked all over again. Better to know they’re not worth the time before you join.

I can understand you ah’i

My dear, you must to know

do not reveal that you re Israeli/jewish in a video game

Even before the actual war it was always the same.

Even if you re a poor jewish person with a common job with same month bills issues like other people you ll be treated as you know.

1st rule about the club

do not talk about the club.

בהצלחה

I got nothing to hide, and I know I’m better of without them as frustrating as the situation was… I just wanted to know if I can report the racism and injustice.
Sad that I can’t, but nothing to do but move on.
Still, appreciate the concern, truly.

Discord is 3rd party program that isnt linked to blizz or what they would be responsible of. What comes to guilds in game they can manage them as they want, even disbanding the guild without owing explanation to any if they so choose. For what its worth, I had friend holy priest who I liked and we played arenas with who were also from Israel. He were good guy, stay safe and hope you best.

If they only fired you without saying anything specific words or something about your nationnality.

You can’t do anything against them, unfortunately.

It’s pretty immature and somewhat upsetting getting kicked, but honestly you’re better off without them.

They could have used the opportunity to get to know you better and to learn about things from someone who is affected by events in the region but they chose to judge based on ignorance. Their loss.

To be fair, I think this is the reason they kicked him.

Not because of something the OP believes, but because of the potential of creating conflict inside the group.

No hate to the op and I hope the best for him, but the situation in the region is such that people have pretty strong emotions. Especially if you compare it to the Russia situation 2 years ago, where the outcry/racism was way worse, now people do not have that outlet, thus they do not know how to react.

Sad.

But why are you surprised ? Havent you seen in the news about pro-palestine protesters here in EU ?

And it dosent matter if you agree or not with them. What matters is that Israel/Palestine situation is pure drama. And if you know about this, its better to keep these things to yourself.

Next time say you are from Cyprus or something.

And for the record, I told the same thing to a person that said he was from Russia.

Israel is in a bit of a pickle right now due to the most RECENT events and you have to accept the fact that some people are RACISTS and ignorant, whatever they hear on the news—that’s what they judge an entire people with. I’ve seen a Guild Master kick a British guy on EU with the final words of: “Get out of my guild, you colonizer!”—every country can be treated like this apart from maybe 2 if you are racist enough. So, as someone above said—you should be thankful that you got kicked and pop a champagne because you’re no longer surrounded by racists! Look for another guild, man, ignore the Guild Master and those who treated you like that and move on.

Maybe the GM or Officer was a Palestinian… :person_shrugging:

And he truly did save his country. All hail the mighty GM!

If that small bit of your background was enough to make them feel repulsed, then you are better off without being near them.

Imagine what other drama can happen in a place where people pigeonhole others based on parts of their identity.
