Grand Crusader Caldoran needs nerf

So this boss is basically a paladin Sealtwister Pre-nerf.

Execution Sentence - Spell - Classic World of Warcraft

Reduce tank hp by 90%, if unlucky he does a melee swing 0.2 sec after and tank is deleted. Happened for us alot.
Sadly we play on horde so we dont have Paladins spamming Divine Light to put those HUGE absorbs up or Hand of Sacrifice…

You need to add:

  • Does Reset Swing Timer

Thanks in advance

nothing like a boss with a semi-one shot mechanic that only one faction has a tool against, well 2 tools against.

from what i know it cannot be dealt with by external cds such as pain supression, barkskin, shammy rage (etc.) and it can’t be grounded.

how is horde supposed to deal with this ability?
powerword: shield and mana shield and pray?

its also kinda outrageous that he seems to strictly do spell damage (holy) which cannot be mitigated by tank stats.

i would very much like to know if this is just a skill issue, and if thats the case, how is a horde raid (a 20 man - not a 30-40 man) supposed to deal with this boss?

spam overhealing for the whole fight?
even that doesn’t secure tanks survival as an execution sentence followed by an instant melee swing can still end the tank if the timing is poor due to rng.

i sure hope the intended way to deal with this mechanic is not solely relying on hand of sacrifice and divine light (and possibly a well timed bubble to cancel the HoS damage done to the paladin), because if that’s the case it would mean the devs are extremely incompetent since, you know… horde can’t access paladins.

if u die during that mehanic then your healer is trash. U can get shielded by priest , druid hots … Does shaman heal btw increasing your armor? Also maye should think about armor poting it also.

His HP needs a nerf that’s for sure. 10 mins fight…what fun

as explained above; mitigation is useless against this mechanic. you could have pain sup, barkskin, shammy rage, priest barrier and armor healing buff active and it would still hit you for 90% of your health.
for you to even suggest these things means you haven’t got a clue about how the boss works.

his ‘normal’ swings hit for about 10-13k, and they are magic attacks meaning armor is basically useless.
powerword shield will, at best, reduce the damage taken by the tank by 1200ish when fully improved through talents, that’s 1/10-13th of just one normal swing.

how am i supposed to deal with that?

puts mic in your face

Hes playing Alliance, they got them bubble boys spamming Divine Light for 5k absorb each and Hand of Sac, he doesnt know what the mechanic even do.

okay, this is hilarious. i’ve asked around a bit and from what i am hearing this is another infamous case of “horde just have it tougher” akin to the situation in vanilla where alliance has fear ward for Onyxia while horde… doesn’t have that…

so basically.
horde tactic for Caldoran:
when main tank takes execution sentence, offtank (with adds on him) taunts the boss until execution lands on main tank, healers have to split focus healing on designated offtank + maintank to keep them both alive during this time window, at which point the main tank taunts the boss back once healed up.
meanwhile a 4th semi-offtank chase ravagers until sentence is over at which point boss-tanking offtank takes the add off of 4th semi-offtank. rinse repeat.

alliance tactic for Caldoran: lol just rotate divine light + hand of sacrifice on the main tank + bubble to delete the shared damage, supplement with powerword shield and mana shield on main tank…

KEKW.

seems fair.

Maybe time for blizz to give horde shamans Healing Wave an absorb for 50% of the amount if healed at full HP tank?
Like divine light, or give them a new spell entirely? Havent been an issue with doing that for Paladins so far.

Tidal Surge
61% of base mana 40 yd range
2.5 sec cast 8 sec cooldown
Requires Shaman
Requires level 60
Heals a friendly target for 2389.965 to 2645.793. 50% of any excess healing on the target is converted into an absorption shield that lasts 15 sec. Multiple casts of Tidal Surge do not accumulate this shield.

Tidal Surge benefits from all talents and effects that trigger from or modify Healing Wave.

To be fair if this would have been the other way around, horde could faceroll it and alliance could not, blizz would have hotfixed the said spell to not work at all during the encounter.

While you at it Blizzard, add a bonus effect to “Tranquil Air Totem”:
[Concentration Aura]

Requires Shaman

Requires level 60

Gives a 35% chance of ignoring spell interruption when damaged to all party members within 30 yards.
