Graphical issues

Lately I’ve noticed that, when I’m playing WoW, there are some graphical glitches on the screen. It happens sometimes, but when it does it’s really annoying, like some regions of the screen starts flickering for no reason.

I’ve tried to search what could be the cause of that, but nothing helped.

What I’ve tried to do so far is the following:

  • Tracking the temperature of my CPU and GPU. They’re around 45-50 ºC and 72-76 ºC. I don’t have the Vsync option activated, so the GPU is working on a high load always at around 1850-1900 MHz Core clock, 1250-1300 MHz Memory clock and 5005MHz Shader clock (Data taken from MSI Afterburner and GPU-Z). I don’t want Vsync due to the input lag, and my monitor doesn’t has Gsync, so I have to deal with tearing :frowning:

  • I’ve tried to do one stress test on my GPU with FurMark, but everything seems OK.

  • I’ve also tried to take out the GPU and put it again on the slot. Also, I’ve checked that the cables are well connected, even I’ve replaced them for a new ones.

  • I’ve tried do disable all the post-processes and set the graphics at minimum.

  • I’ve checked that I have the latest drivers for my GPU through Nvidia Geforce Experience (v430.86). I have the Game Ready Controller preference enabled.

I’ve noticed that sometimes the GPU has FPS drops/stuttering. Also, I’ve observed that it does this stuttering moreless each second, for a half a minute or less, and then it suddenly stops doing it. Maybe that can be of help to know the cause.

Could anyone help me to see what may be happening? This is my pc setup right now:

Thanks in advance!

Edit: This is an example of what’s happening: https://streamable.com/4xo8d (when it’s highlighted it flickers). The fact is that it also happens sometimes around the screen when I’m just playing around.

Wrap the link in ``, that makes it preformatted text, not a url.

Edited, thanks for telling!

Greetings!

I am expiriencing the same issue. I reinstalled windows two days ago, and well. Once I reinstalled Wow, and the NVIDIA drivers, wow started flickering everywhere and glitching a lot.

The only thing that has changed for me are the driver type: from Standard to DCH driver type.

Perhaps it is due to that? If such is the case, it is Wow’s fault or… Nvidia’s?

Same here. GTX 1070 FE on 430.86 drivers, Windows 10 1809. Sometimes graphical glitches (little black boxes flying through) but more often interface flickering (skill icons, minimap, etc.) Somebody mentioned having similar problems on nvdia forum, so it seems like we’re not the only ones.

It may be an issue with drivers compatibility or something like that then. I’ve tried using DirectX 11 and 12, but neither of those works to fix it.

I hope someone else can clarify and confirm this is a drivers issue or something like that, it would be more comfortable to know that’s not a hardware issue.

Hey just popping in to express my concern too!
Today I noticed that black squares pop up on screen whenever I open the map. It flickers and so do my skills and my character portrait.
It appears that it’s NVidia’s fault. I doubt there’s anything we can do about it until next driver comes out.

EDIT:

I checked US threads and some people are also having the same issue due to NVidia drivers.
I hope this gets addressed asap so that we can get a proper driver update that fixes this.

Same issue here. I get black-ish squares on the world map, bag icons flickering, sometimes the quest tracker flickering. Happens outside of wow as well sometimes. Only happens to be case for one monitor btw, so might be worth trying the other one.

It’s the nvidia driver. Go back to an older version until Blizzard talks to Nvidia and gets them to fix it. Submit in game bug reports about this issue in the meantime.

430.53 should work fine.
