I’m writing to give direct feedback on the Greedy Emissary event, because the way it’s been handled is extremely frustrating and disappointing. What could have been a fun and rewarding event turned into a confusing mess, simply because of how poorly it was communicated and structured.
Here are the main issues:
No in-game explanation
There is no quest, no popup, no breadcrumb, and no guidance whatsoever. You log in, and there is no indication that the event even exists, where to go, or what to do. If you don’t follow WoW news sites, Reddit, or watch YouTube guides, you would never know how this event actually works. That’s unacceptable for a time-limited event with unique rewards.
Inaccurate and misleading timing info
The event as wowhead said is not hourly as some older sources say. Portals spawn every 30 minutes, and goblins appear five minutes later. This is nowhere clearly stated in-game. People constantly miss spawns because they only show up once an hour, assuming that’s how it works. This leads to confusion and unnecessary frustration.
( Here starts the problem with no information provided ingame which leads to missinformation from external sources)
Map marker appears too late
The portal icon only shows up five to ten minutes before or after on the hour, and only if you are already near the area. There is no global alert, no persistent timer, and no real way to plan ahead. Players should not have to use third-party tools just to catch an event spawn.
Limited hours make it inaccessible
The goblins only spawn between 08:00 and 23:59 server time. That completely locks out night-shift players, people with different schedules, or those in other time zones. For a global game with a global playerbase, this kind of restriction makes no sense. It needs to run 24/7 or have rotating time windows. ( Again problem with no information provided ingame which leads to missinformation from external sources)
Too reliant on external sources
The entire structure of this event seems to assume players are using external sites or addons to figure it out. There is no reason the average player should need a guide just to understand a basic world event.
Event spawns are buggy and unreliable
Even when players are standing at the correct location at the exact right time, the portal often doesn’t appear at all. For example, at 11:30 server time, I stood in front of Orgrimmar where the spawn was supposed to happen — nothing showed up. No portal, no goblin, no marker. This isn’t just a one-off glitch. Other players are reporting the same thing: missing spawns, delayed spawns, or portals not appearing unless they relog or switch shards. We shouldn’t have to join a random group or use a Hearthstone just to see an event that’s already “live.” If the event relies on phasing or sharding, it clearly isn’t functioning properly.
This event could have been great. Instead, it’s a headache. There is no excuse for leaving players in the dark like this. Please consider the following improvements, not just for this event, but for all future limited-time content:
Add an automatic quest or popup to introduce the event
Include a proper timer or tracker in the UI
Expand the active hours or make it run continuously
Provide clear in-game explanations of event structure and rewards
Right now, this feels like an event made only for those who already know where to look. That’s the opposite of good game design.
Sincerely,
A frustrated player who just wanted to enjoy the event without having to dig through forums and datamined info.
Someone tell me why hellcaller chests in my bags remain greyed out and provide no loot after clicking on them. Relogging clears the coloured tint from them but they keep bugging out again.
There is loot in them, currency at least, but it takes 10 different relogs before one of them opens up as intended, so technically to claim loot from 30 chests would take somewhere around 300 relogs if I account for many bugging out along the way. If only I was joking because in the morning everything was working fine. The lag has been subdued drastically so I can’t guess what the cause may be. This does not happen only in Undermine which has the highest traffic.
The only way you’ll see that this event is a thing beyond a portal appearing is the buff you have, or if you check the calendar on the regular. It would be nice if they did add a decent way to inform people, like having a splash screen appear when it starts, or the event vendor offer a one-time quest about what you can do and what’s going down that you see on the map.
The official post says every 60 minutes, so it’s up to people to respond that’s it incorrect if that’s really the case. Same goes if it’s on third-party sites.
(4) Where does it say that, because it ain’t on the official post? (It’s in brackets btw, because the format thingy puts it to 3)
Ah, I can explain that. The enmity box only rewards the head and cloack, if you collected them the other boxes will have no loot. I assume you looted multiple of them before opening one, after I collected the appearances they stopped dropping but the ones I already had remained in my bags and had to delete them to get rid of them.
PS Can someone confirm or deny if Tyriels charger still drops? I got pretty much everything except that
Lots of this patch has been incredibly unfriendly. Even what should’ve been a fun event like Dastardly Duos is just a headache trying to figure out how, what and where.
