So since the latest patch (11.1.7) whenever i try to talk to the transmog npc my screen would just freeze for about 10 seconds and when its back it refreshes everything like textures etc after that some of my ui elements would just stay green. Also i realized ray tracing is not working anymore. I also realized you can force it by switching to directx12 to 11 and vise versa.
terrible quality check by the blizzard, yet again.
Myself and many others now in EU and US, probably other servers as well having the same problem. It is a shame…
Hope they fix this somehow. Some say it’s directx some say its overlays such as discord, game bar etc, some say its advanced work summit and some say its msaa. I’m not sure what it is like i said i hope it gets fix soon.
It’s none of these. I’ve tested it.
During the crashes I’ve had (Windows 10/Nvidia) Discord was not running and I have game bar disabled completely. MSAA was not enabled and the game has crashed with work submit both on and off.
I’m confident it’s not caused by any of those things you listed.
Having these things enabled will put more pressure on VRAM usage which could accelerate the crashing IF the issue is related to loading assets into VRAM.
Having the exact same issue, found a fix yet?
Sadly no. I’m using directx 11 rn but some people say they are still having issues with 11. Give it a try.
Having similar issue, graphics go crazy on opening transmog! I have been getting round it by reloading UI, not a fix as I cant use transmog. I doubt Blizz will sort it it anytime soon but fingers crossed they will get on it when they have time lol.
NVidia have an open Bug for Raytracing causing screen corruption in wow - so that’s looking like a graphics driver update will be needed. My guess is raytracing has been disabled as a workaround pending a fix.
The green UI elements appears to be a bug where addons lose access to game textures following a graphics pipline reset (something that the game engine does from time to time).
A /reload usually restores the missing textures. If you are having persistant issues I’d suggest disabling any impacted addons untill the issue is resolved.
It’s not an addon issue since it also happens without any addons.
She’s saying textures used by the addons aren’t reloaded after a crash and reset. The current video crash isn’t caused by addons.
I don’t know about this specifics of raytracing causing corruption because I have the setting turned off. It’s probably something else. I’m telling you that something had changed on their end. I caught a guy from US forums mentioning that they’ve suddenly seeing wow having a white edge/border on the screen when booting up after patch and then I remembered noticing the same thing, when in previous patches it previously wasn’t so.
The border thing has been there for a while now. Since the first TWW beta at the very least. It’s not related to this issue.
Checked when i encountered the problem without forcing it in event viewer and its: event 153, nvlddmkm, video8 and error occured on gpuid:600
For me freezes randomly i have green details damage meter addon windows , and it reload also the buildings in dornogal also give me the livekernelevents 141 error sometimes
the /reload work on the details addon, but the hardware error in livekernelevents sometimes happens more than one time per day
Try disabling Compute Effects.
I also get constant green everything ingame.
Happens when i try to transmo gear it happens every time i get on my transmo mount aswell and i mean every time.
When i get a a spike ingame.
When i go down the corridor and land at flightpoint.
Reloading ui will remove it but its verry annoing specially when it happens in a m+ and i have to reload there.
Freeze DOES NOT happen on loading stuff in 3D-world - running around, flying through continent, switching continents, etc.
Freeze always happens on loading UI-related textures:
- opening combined bags and loading hundred of new icons
- opening transmogrification window
- going to character select screen (background display and model there works like equip preview window, not 3D-world)
This makes me think that culprit is some change in UI-related texture loading/caching.
It’s NOT driver-related.
It’s NOT any Windows update related.
It’s NOT raytracing related.
It’s NOT newer NVIDIA GPU related.
The only thing that changed is arrival of patch 11.1.7.
I have two identical notebooks with RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPUs. They have different update profiles: one is rebooting every day and one has long uptime in months (i.e.: does not have constant updates). Both experience freezes and complete texture reloads since patch.
Build 61609 fixes “green” addon textures - external textures not reloading at all when freeze hits. But freezes themselves remain.
Until patch I maybe experienced something like that once per year, but now game freezes/reloads dozen of times per day.
Just seen something I didn’t seen before: endless loop of freezes and reloads. Game freezes, reloads all textures then in several seconds of loading it freezes again and starts from scratch. Until I pressed logout.
It seems to be related to Alt+Tab game down. Before it occassionally froze, then GPU kinda “rewrote” game, meaning fonts were messed up. Only fix was to restart the game. I guess they tried to fix it; game does not really freeze up anymore, but green boxes appear everywhere. /reload seems to work.
So this might seem weird but hear me out guys. Do you guys also having this issue with game music on? Can you all try without game music? You know like disable it with control+m.
