Despite your moderators locking the last post on this topic, the quest is STILL broken.
I have been trying for hours. None of the cannons work. This is like so many other cr@p quests with stupid cannons that have led me to abandon so many quests and characters over the past ten years or more. However, this quest is blocking me from getting to Argus because there is no other way to get reputation in Stormheim.
I am not interested in Shadowlands. All I want is to unlock a void elf so I can have an Alliance character that is somewhat aesthetic. I am SO SICK of the ugly characters you force us to adopt. That is the only reason I am currently retaining my subscription. However, you refuse to fix this bug despite people complaining about it for years.
Why do you treat your paying customers with such contempt? Why do you refuse either to fix this broken quest or provide a way to bypass it?
As a Prot paladin I had the same problem. It is possible to kill the bats manually, but prot paladin only has spells with 30 yards range, which is not enough reach to aggro them. Finally I got the tip to switch to Holy. Then there is for example Holy Shock, which has the range of 40 yards.
I made a macro like this
/cleartarget
/tar Forsaken Dreadwing
/cast holy shock
Jump up on the highest point (ledge) where the scenario starts on the boat (with Commander Lorna Crowley). Spam macro. You will catch bats and kill them manually.
Shouldn’t have to do it that way, but at least it worked for me so that I could get on and finish the quest.
PS. Any 40 yard spell should work. Perhaps Warlock has something too.
it’s still broken, I managed to get 16/30 out of cannons on the right side, then made it to 27-28 by standing in front of the airship and aggroeing bats flying over the ship(had to jump at a higher blue platform), then came to the ship’s left side and started to shoot at the right side (over the ship) till I got 2 more. Prot pala (didn’t change spec)

If it’s the post I think you’re referring to, it was closed because it was a reply to a year old post. With a bug like this, it’s always best to create a new post rather than necro’ing an old post as it might not be the same problem.
Either way, we have a Support Article up for the issue, try out the tips and contact Support if it persists.
I had the same thing too, even if I hit them they did not count. I was on my warlock so I went to the highest point of the ship and shot some out of the sky when they were flying over. It made me finish that stage of the scenario. Pain in the @$# though.
