This also happens in Euro Truck Simulator 2, when I have SSAO enabled I see these small grid or line patterns inside shadows. Disabling SSAO fixes the issue but it also makes the game look a little ugly. Does anyone know a fix for this?
I tried many things such as uninstalling my graphics drivers using DDU and reinstalling them, resetting my driver settings to their defaults, I also did a fresh reinstall of Windows recently for a unrelated reason but that did not fix it as well. Or maybe that’s just how SSAO is and I can’t do anything about it?
Here’s a screenshot but it’s a little hard to see the issue. It’s quite noticable in-game though. You may have to zoom in a bit.

My PC specs:
Graphics card: RTX 2080 Ti
CPU: i5 10400f
RAM: 16GB DDR4 3200mhz
OS: Windows 11 Pro
The latest which is 546.33. I should mention that this has been an issue for me for a few months now. It happened on my older RX 570 graphics card but I replaced that with a RTX 2080 Ti about a month ago.
I was using FedelityFX, but I just switched to ASSAO and that has actually improved it a bit but the issue is not completely gone.
I’m using Color x2 / Depth x2, but switching to CMAA or FXAA doesn’t fix it. I also tried turning off anti-aliasing.
I don’t have any overlays. I don’t have Discord, Geforce Experience and I also uninstalled the xbox gamebar using Powershell because I always got notifications even though I disabled them in the settings lol
Also the only background applications running on my PC is the NVIDIA control panel and Google Chrome for background music. I like to keep my PC as clean as possible
EDIT: I mentioned above that I’m having a similar issue in Euro Truck Simulator 2. Turns out that others are reporting the exact same issue as me in American Truck Simulator which as the exact same game engine as Euro Truck Simulator 2. Turning off SSAO is the only way to solve the issue. The grid-like pattern on the truck hood is very similar to the problem I’m having in WoW. So I’m thinking it is just something to do with SSAO, or maybe SSAO doesn’t run as well on older graphics cards.
