Grind starts immediately at 60

The moment you hit 60 and choose your covenant you get bombarded with anima/soul ash/stygia etc. grinds .
I enjoyed the expac very much until I saw the numbers I needed to grind to progress .
Now my motivation just vanished

This feels a lot like Azerite to me.
Except it’s multiple kinds of Azerite which makes it even worse imo

Not to mention the time gated covenant armor

Only a small part of those grinds is ‘mandatory’, after that it’s mostly for cosmetic extra’s, etc.

You need all of those at a certain point to progress your covenant campaign .

And we all know when pathfinder hits all of that needs to be completed/collected/whatever.

Also, cosmetics are the true endgame :stuck_out_tongue:

Half of things u mentioned are weekly caped so not realy and issue, is it?

Not completely true, all you need is to cap your renown for the week, which is 400 ‘insert new name for AP here’, anything over that is just for nice looking shinies. Other than that, you’ll need to do the weekly Torghast thing for your legendary mats. Not perfect, but a lot more manageable that it has been of late…

Also, flying was confirmed by Ion a few days ago to be tied to renown this time, not to loremaster or any other achievement.

My end game is writing on the forums, because I will not be playing Shadowlands.
Getting to 60 was more than enough. Doing it on the beta gave me no hype, and live was the same feeling.

I can see why many will love this expansion though. Many things to do (bars to fill), M+ and raids are always solid for those that do them.

That is precisely the issue.

There is no reason at all for cosmetic stuff to be timegated

Oh thank god. Now I know I can stop playing after I hit 60. Cheers. :+1:

YES THERE IS as blizz wants you to stay in game as long as possible so you keep your SUB UP ! = MORE $$$

Well the way I see it I’m probably gonna play a few more weeks and then put in a long hiatus just like in bfa.

So they could have made more money by keeping people engaged with actual content instead of timegated stuff.

But oh well that’s just me.
Glad some people enjoy it. Good for you

Only ONE part is mandatory, renown. That’s it.

So what does that mean? You cap your renown in a couple of hours and then nothing left to do for the rest of the week except level even more alts?

I laugh at anyone who expects a new WoW Expansion to be any different than any other expansion, previosly.

It’s basically just a reskin of the old content. Bliz are playing it safe sticking to the old formula that works. A formula where you are a rat in a maze, a hamster in a wheel, a horse chasing a carrot. Except that carrot is never really caught.

Just look at Heart of Azeroth necklace - how relatively fast you replace all your hard effort in BFA with a new necklace. This example alone should be enough to summarize how every single expansion is: Chase all the brainless grinds - get the results and then watch them go obsolete.

I am planning to permaquit WoW in around year or so. I am dead serious. And this is not another drama queen rant. I am actually looking forward to liberating myself from all the future hype and a sense of urgency that it entails.

Torghast if you want a legendary, Maw if you want Stygia for sockets, daily normal/heroics for rep, world quests for rep/anima, your covenants extra activity… Once the raid opens you’ll have that, and Mythic Plus…

Yea most people play for raids/m+/pvp which isnt realy time gated once open.

If u happen to be that one guy who cares only about one transmog set in whole mmorpg game, maybe its realy better for you to quit, and i say that without any offense.

WOW hasn’t had any worthwhile end-game in a very long time anyway. Shadowlands doesn’t seem to be any different. It’s just not worth it in the end.

Of the things introduced I’d say that Torghast is the “new” thing in Shadowlands. The rest is just renamed and repurposed assets from previous expansions, tweaked a bit but in the essence it’s the same tools we’ve played with before. Perhaps it’s cheaper to redecorate the old than to build something new.

Grind for us Kazzaks, Draenors and Silvermoons starts when you hit the play button on the launcher.

You do a raid once a week and all the mythics once a week aswell.

So technically that’s timegated aswell

But I’m not talking about raids or m+ here

U do one difficulty once a week, and most guild raid multiple days/nights per week, but yea u dont do raids 24/7

What? U can spam m+ till you grow old and becomes a mumy…

So technicly, its not, also u can raid how much u want, only rewards are locked per week ( no mythix tho, afaik)

Yea u talk about one thing frim XY and appartently that one thing is whole game for you…

I never said it’s the whole game.

But it’s the thing that keeps it alive.

Gear is irrelevant in the long run.
The first few times a raid may be fun but it gets boring real fast.
Same with m+

The only thing that sticks with you throughout each expansion no matter what are cosmetics.

Again, perhaps you’re right and it’s just me.
But I do believe that most people do the stuff they do ingame (be it arena or raiding or whatever) to get those sweet cosmetics to show off
