But it does have potential!
Right now it’s missing the appeal of Dragonriding. Why is Dragonriding fun?
Because it’s fast and it’s involved. It’s a movement mechanic that actually rewards knowledge and skill, letting good players maintain high Vigour and max speed simultaneously.
Ground Skimming, in its current form, doesn’t really accomplish anything. Slow gliding feels bad, straight up. If Ground Skimming were a way to swiftly get back up to speed, that’d be sweet. Instead, it’s a sluggish grind to reclaim Vigor that doesn’t even outpace grounded regeneration.
Barely anyone will make use of this. It’s a niche that didn’t need filling. It’s not fun.
But this could be solved so simply: Let Ground Skimming stack with Thrill of the Skies
Literally just picture it; flying at breakneck speeds, just barely above the ground, weaving around trees and rocks and being rewarded for it with an even faster Vigor regen. Dragonriding’s true potential is in racing and skill expression!
It would be so much more enjoyable than Ground Skimming’s current form as ‘walking but feels worse’.
