Hello so I’m clearing Tomb of Sargeras and needed help for last 2 bosses so i wanted to use the group finder and maybe somebody would be interested in joining but the group finder is locked.
I’m paying a sub but I’m not allowed to play the game?
I don’t want to be forced to give them my phone number to be able to play a game I’m already paying for.
I don’t understand is Blizzard trying to make people quit?
It’s strange… Some friends of mine say they only needed the mobile protect or just the autenthicator. To unlock their inventory slots and premade finder stuff.
I already had Autenthicator and still needed to add mobile protect to get rid of this. And i tilted harder at that than I’m proud of… But yeah.
Blizzard don’t contact you or send marketing info or anything that other businesses do. It’s simply an additional layer of protection for your account, should it be hacked, and to prevent spammers creating mass-accounts for boosts, etc.
I genuinely don’t see what the issue is. Takes two minutes to do, solves your problem, and it’ll probably never affect you ever again. Had multi-factor authentication for years and it’s never troubled me.
I do understand its for more protection etc.
But I’m talking about legacy raid why do i need more protection to be able to find more players to kill Fallen Avatar and Kiljaeden ?
Is the group finder dangerous ?
Seems like a way to create useless drama, especially for a simple thing that actually helps a ton since nowadays people cry left and right that their accounts magically vanish.
I don’t use LFG, but after my account got hacked back during Cata, I invested in the physical authenticator (which still works even today). Have the phone app, but in order to use it, I have to delete my physical authenticator from my account first.
The system was changed to prevent boosters and spammers filling up the LFG system and preventing other players finding appropriate groups. It’s nothing to do with the perceived danger of it or not. Blizzard aren’t going to put in a system and then set it to not apply to legacy content…because then the boosters will just label themselves as a Highmaul group but still advertise boosts for Heroic Sepulcher.
Having this authentication system in place benefits more people than not having it at all.
having to scroll down over countless boosting ads and etc… Blizzard is trying to crack down on that. Making it harder for throwaway accounts to advertise. Making them having to subscribe and all of this to hold accounts accountable for advertising I suppose.
well, seems you have gotten already all the right answers. i might want to add that, just because you are paying a sub, you shouldnt be exempt from it or something. you pay a sub to access the game. the game has rules. dont like the game? well… then you gotta quit.
i think its childish to quit or make a fuss about additional protection for your account. i have the authenticator since basically forever and i have yet to receive advertisements or spam or whatever because of it.
The FAQ seems to indicate you need both but I’ve not tested it. I’ve always had that security on my account because I don’t want to risk being hacked. Whilst nothing will protect you 100%, I still think it’s the better than going without.
Since patch 9.1.5, only accounts that have been secured with a Battle.net Authenticator and Phone Notifications can add custom text to Group Finder listings. After you added an Authenticator and Phone Notifications, it can take up to 30 minutes for the ability to write custom text on the Group Finder to be available, and we recommend that you exit the game and log in again.
If you don’t have an Authenticator or Phone Notifications, you can use the Group Finder, but you will not be able to write custom text on your listing.
Technically you can list the raid, you just can’t customise the description. You can list a raid under the legacy section.
