Growl Issue (More of a Meow! :( )

I am at the end of my rope with this one guys, I need some help please…

My growl is bugged across all my pets (even where the growl is in a different place on the Pet action Bar). I have ensured that the Growl ‘spell’ is set to ‘active’, i.e. has the flashing border around it.

When I send my Pet in to a mob encounter (on Assist), it does not cast growl, it constantly lets aggro ‘drop’ it also feels like (and I may be wrong) other abilities set to active e.g. Spirit Shock (on Hati) aren’t automatically casting either, even when set to active.

I don’t have any ‘special’ addons - I use Bartender for my bars and I don’t use any macros. I used a middle mouse keybind to send my pet in to attack. I’ve tried dismissing / resummoning my pet, etc. There have been times where growl has randomly worked when I have sent the pet in and just left it, but then it will randomly just stop working during that fight, either when the mob targets me, or I start attacking it, or for no particular reason.

I am so confused - I’ve played a hunter on / off since Vanilla, but this one has me stumped - any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’ll buy the winning solution a cookie :=) <3

Maybe for some reason pet has no focus for Growl. Maybe using it for something else? Have you tried manual use Growl, does it work?

It works manually, yeah. I initially thought it was a focus issue, but it’s happening right at the beginning of a fight, so it has me puzzled. I can manually click growl and it will work, so spending focus on it doesn’t seem to be a problem.

This seems to be a recent thing (whether it’s new focus management or otherwise, I have no idea).

Is this happening with specific pet or any pet?
Try turn off all auto-use abilities (deactivate them), keep only Growl. The pet should use it as it’s the only option. OR it just keeps having full focus bar and do only auto attacks?

try removing it from pet action bars and just activat it on your spellbook

I think I have found the source of the issue (as simple as it seems) - the issue seems to be with the animal companion talent (2 pets) - when dealing with multiple mobs. If the 2nd stabled pet is tagging / killing quicker than my main pet can attack things, it isn’t getting the opportunity to perform the growl. It’s kind of a niche scenario when running through lower level dungeons.

I think we can close this issue off - thanks for the help guys.
