GTX 1080 for Shadowlands,really?

Can we get some proper optimization for Shadowlands to be able to run this game normally ? 40v40 bgs are LITERALLY UNPLAYABLE.Not willing to buy new pc just for wow even though i can run games that are more demanding than wow without problems.

I can run bfa on max with gtx 1050/i5 4690 but prefer to keep it stable on '‘7’,dont want to decrease to ‘‘4’’ in Shadowlands and sacrifice graphics over performance.Something in between would be nice.

1050 on close to full is a bit pushing it imo. maybe looks at a 6gb G-card and above.

Ye 1050 isnt that good, but still able to run on 60 fps in crowded org and dazar’alor 45+ in boralus.Still doesnt change the fact ill probably have to decrease graphics to 4 to keep stable 60 fps in Shadowlands.

I’m playing with an old RX 570 on max in beta and it works just fine.
I also don’t have a comparable CPU but a much older one.

The recommendations are a bit over the top IMO

My backup PC with a 1070 runs the game just fine too :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

On which settings, average fps ? and what kind of cpu u got ?

yeah 1070 is fine, even on 4k, you cant compare it to OP’s though

Ye lol 1070 is great gpu, cant compare it to 1050

Everything on max, 1040p, 70-80 fps in open world. For M+ / raid content I generally put the settings down a little but I think for 5 people content it would even work on max.

AMD Ryzen 7 1700x OC’d to 4 GHz

That cpu is way better than mine, but anyways…if you run 70-80fps i think i should be fine then

You have a better GPU than mine though - should be fine really

Me in Oribos on Beta, everything on max, 89 FPS, hardware below recommendation

Rx 570 is also better than gtx 1050.Buy anyways…ye i hope ill be fine. Thanks

Oh I didn’t know there was a difference between 1050 and 1050 ti - yes, the 570 seems slightly better.

You’ll be fine though

Damn you make me realise just how outdated my AMD is… cause I barely get 30 fps these days (on settings 5, custom with low settings on most things) and in MoP I’d easily get 90 fps…

Fire effects/smoke/fog is the worse, I hit like 5 fps lol… Will have to get a big upgrade soon :eyes:

I’m using a gtx1660 super and its stable at 7 on a lowly 1080p monitor. Tbh any reasonable system should be ok with SL

I play on gtx 1080ti (11gb) with ryzen 7 3700x and 32gb ram at 3000mhz, on full HD with settings at 10 i got like 150-200fps, on average, depends on content.
Yet during big ashran fights or taren mill vs soutshore i feel lagy… Its not always hardware, but i have to admit its waaay better than with old pc.

Yeah, I’m using a GTX 970M and it runs perfectly fine. I think the new required specs are to help with the new raytracing feature. Personally I don’t really care if my shadows aren’t pointy, because I disable them anyway.

The 1080 recommended GPU is for RTX. They don’t recommend a card less than a 1080 for RTX. Its a graphics setting so they have to put it in.

You are wrong.

GTX 1080 cannot render raytracing. Do you really not want to understand that polygon count goes up every expansion? It is not a surprise that they recommend a 1080 since the new areas and gear have a lot more detail.

But GTX cards dont have hardware support for RTX. Because they lack the tensor cores you only find on RTX cards.

The software side implementation of raytracing through direct x is really not worth it imo.

Ive tested it myself, my 1060 6gb vs a rtx 2070. And i really could tell the difference between hardware and software raytracing.

So i am totally lost why recommended settings are with a gpu that doesnt support hardware supported raytracing.

Overall, i currently play at overall settings to 7 and certain stuff set to ultra and the rest is like high or whatever.
So i think ill be fine with my 1060 6gb.

In 1440p even, and i run fine framerates for the content i enjoy.
