Another week has passed. And I still haven’t received a single letter with compensation for my two guild banks that were wiped. Not a single, even the most useless thing, stolen from me by the incompetence of the developers, has been returned.
@Yosui
Yes, they didn’t announce anything (outside of these forums). Suddenly you receive a post with items you were missing. Or don’t receive anything.
I don’t think a ticket would have made a difference. I didn’t create a ticket and received 229 frostweave ‘out of the blue.’ I did know I was missing a ton of stuff and I had commented in the forums, though, so I don’t know if that counts for anything.
We have placed multiple ticket with in game support regarding missing items, nothing was returned. Instead we got a message saying they acknowledge the error but can’t do anything and opening more tickets won’t help. Instead, each ticket was closed with a suggestion to post here to get help - and we all know posting here doesn’t help at all either.
I still haven’t received a letter with compensation for my guild bank
I had 7 tabs and nothing was restored
19 years of collecting completely gone
I logged a ticket and - after they told me to do a UI reset again - they told me to post in the bug forum on the US forums. Those forums tell you that you can’t post until you have a L10 character: I only have a trial account on the US side, so even after I’d rolled a toon and levelled it to 11 (to be sure), I still can’t post on the US forums.
I logged another EU ticket to tell them this, and the response was:
the restoration process has been completed, and any items that were restored have been sent to the guild leader’s mailbox. Unfortunately, we were not able to return everything. I would also like to apologize for the misunderstanding that happened previously, the following EU forums link will have all the information about the situation: https://eu.forums.blizzard.com/en/wow/t/guild-bank-missing-items-update/538628
Yes, that is a link to this thread, which hasn’t had a blue post for six weeks and apparently hasn’t helped a single player or guild get anything back.
Well done, Blizz. Excellent customer service there.
At this point it feels like Blizzard’s customer service has been briefed “nothing is happening, deal with the tickets as best you can”, and much like a call centre dealing with people’s flights that have been cancelled on Christmas eve, they are not going to deliver a good outcome.
Just remember to direct your anger not at the GMs, but the development team that green lit this code, and yet will never have to deal with the fallout, since that’s on the GMs and the forum mods who have the unenviable task of keeping this thread clean.
But here’s a bronto auction house mount instead of the items we stole from players from the auction house and guild banks. Players “cool, free?” blizzard: LMAO, no £60
And indeed. It was said that everything was restored and sent by mail? And what else do we demand? Better to go and buy some mounts.
I’m still massively angry how they made me waste €100+ (expansion + 6 months) and being treated like nothing.
0% restored, 0% compensated and 0% refunded. All to end up with: 0% of my money this company will ever see again. Just like Ubisoft and Electronic Arts… it has been years and years and they will never see my money again. Unlike other gamers, once on my blacklist you never go off it. And this was an unforgivable act.
Oh, what am I still doing here? Well, showing my anger, disappointment and my critique. Still got 4 months of that left. They could have kept me with restoration or compensation, they could have made me go in peace if they’d just refunded my 6 month sub… but nope, they rather stick another knife in you so they can keep the money.
yea did a ticket about my 3-4 guilds missing stuff and only answer i got was yea you taken out some stuff 2 months ago yea but i hade full pages of stuff not just 20 iteams but see if they look further then the logs i wouldnet count on it
I have said this before, but I will try again and be more direct if possible, although it will likely earn me a ban
Here on the forums Blizzard control the narrative, or basically just ignore it!! I know people have tried Twitter and some of the bigger YouTuber’s who concentrate on WoW content, but these people basically rely on Blizzard too for their views and income, so I guess they are reluctant to ‘rock the boat’.
How about reviews on independent gaming review sites? If all you guys affected make accounts and start posting on these review sites, this may make Blizzard pause, if enough bad reviews start to emerge all complaining about similar issues, you can be ignored on the forums, but not on independent review sites!!! Bad PR for Blizzard is something they DO NOT want as it can stop people returning, or stop new players investing/trying out the game.
I am not saying it will solve the problem, but it’s gotta be worth a try don’t you think?
“Cataclysm Classic
Resolved an issue where the contents of guild bank slots 7 and 8 would not show up when browsing.”
Whaaat?
Has the bug reached Cataclysm?
They’ve already won. With the sales of the store mount They’ve recouped the losses of those of us who cancelled our subs. They don’t care, They’ve made that clear, the community don’t care as they are unwilling to stand up for those affected. I can’t wait until they have a bigger data loss that they can’t sweep under the rug. Look at how many affected still log in daily and weekly to “check their mail”. Blizzard worded the announcement at the top of this forum post for exactly that reason, if people don’t know if or when they’ll get stuff back, they’ll keep logging in and that’s the metrics they take to shareholders. I’m done with the company. And to be honest, even though i lost a lot from the guild bank heist, i wouldn’t have cared, if only they had addressed it. I wouldn’t have needed compensation. What’s pushed me to never support this company again is the utter contempt they have shown to the players affected. This should have been addressed by the higher ups in an interview. There should have been begging for forgiveness, instead they shilled out to wowhead, streamers and other wow influencers to ensure they didn’t mention it. They fobbed us off with the most corporate speak announcement and then ignored us. In all my years of gaming, I’ve never seen such audacity and I’d never have believed they would get away with covering it up if i hadn’t seen it for myself. And if anyone thinks they didn’t pay off the influencers, go and dm them, post a message on a streamers twitter, or on their content, not one will reply to you, or acknowledge that you’ve even mentioned it. They’ve been paid hush money and it’s plain as day. So if anyone really cares about this issue, cancel your sub, stop logging on and unsub from all wow streamers and sites. This company doesn’t deserve any support.
Agree, but you have to remember, those players that haven’t lost bank/auction items are mostly unaware of the problem. You can’t factor in the forums as only a miniscule amount of players frequent the forums, compared to the actual size of the playerbase.
Hence my earlier suggestion, taking the narrative to a place that is not easily controlled by Blizzard. I am not trying to upset people, I do feel for you guys.
I’m directing my anger at management (and at Microsoft)
Even the development/IT team can’t do anything if management says:
‘We’re firing 20,000 customer support reps right before the new expansion launches.
And by the way, profit over everything!’
The release of the new expansion and anniversary are prio 1 —don’t waste any more time on this “small” incident! You have “more important” things to work on!
Get the Bronto ready, do the balancing!
Anything affecting only 1% of the player base shall be ignored—it only costs time and money, and there’s no profit in it!
Maintenance time for servers and databases? Are you nuts?!
There’s no money in that!
Stop this nonsense and build things we can sell for ridiculous amounts of money!’
That’s right, this is the reality in which we live and play now.
I’m a bit late to this party, but I’ve been trying hard to get excited by WoW again and its been a struggle so not logged on since this tiny, mini, little, oopsy. (as the carpet brushing by blizzard would have you believe…)
But to wander into this cluster f of a bad joke?
To clarify this into simple terms, just to get it right in my head: Blizzard, casually, announce they have messed up and deleted (a large) percentage of 2000 years (cumulatively) of items that their own customers have resourced, who have spent real time to collect, many, many hours, many, many millions of gold. Absolutely and without doubt, fully admitted by Blizzard. Correct so far?
You have tried to do some restoration, but from social media, I can see you have failed to do any damage control there. And in fact just added insult to injury.
You claim it is repaired but again, from social media, people are still reporting missing items occurring even now.
A little concerned for my two guilds I log in to have a peek…
Well, much like others, 7 tabs, millions of gold, all gone. Every tab empty. I have some of the oldest guilds on (what was) Daggerspine EU, items that don’t even exist anymore, mats, regents, pets. All stolen by Blizzard and their incompetence. I could say otherwise or in polite terms, but that is the short and long isn’t it?
So in all this, the oldest and most loyal customers stand to loose the most here and there is no sign of compensation? Why? Do you not have enough pixels to replace the pixels you stole?
Shall we go back and look at some of the ways you treat your oldest customers?
How about when you first introduced gold as a reward for end game questing after level 60, but I had already completed all the quest available to Azeroth at that time and couldn’t re complete, and when I asked to get compensated was told to get lost by customer support.
What about when you introduced Achievements, including all the things I had already done and could not do again, when I asked to have them added to my character I was told to get lost by customer support.
I can go on, but I think I’ve made my point.
Stop picking on your oldest children like the abusive parent you are. Just try some basic kindness and fix your mistakes.
Your fan base will always forgive you as they always have, your many…many, many, sooooo many mistakes but you can’t just steal things. That isn’t ok.
I’m glad to see the player base is actually making this more public, lets definitely do more of that. Spread the word.
As always, peace to all.
Awe pants - that explains the running around between all my banking toons with their little one member guilds going ‘where is everything?’
Mine vary from guild to guild with all my ancient enchanting mats and load of other items having gone from 4 separate guilds!!
I knew I hadn’t used them as I’ve not touched them for years except to see how pretty they all looked stacked in progression order (yes minorly obsessive) but having popped back to try and quest for a Purple Netherwing, some bits were going to come in handy - cue confusion and mistification process until I checked online
Have only just realised the issue but in the intervening period from August, have not seen any returns yet either so reckon Blizzard have failed to return a large portion of eveyone’s stuff.
Sorry everyone is going through this but conversely happy too as although I’ve lost my enchanting mats , it does mean my marbles are still intact!
Hope some of you get some resolution

Found that TWO banks were affected by this. That’s thousands of hours wasted. In every case there’s a LOG for each tab that exists still that could tell Blizzard what, at a minimum, to return to me (and others similarly). I’ve told my partner not to touch any of the bank tabs for the foreseeable future.
Sorry, but for me at least there’s about 20-30 lines in the LOG that identifies what should be there. You have the partial means to identify. Did the guilds of people at Blizzard who “claim” to play this game get affected too? I echo others here to say: FIX THIS!!!
